Batman investigates the ambulances and finds traces of vegetable matter. Meanwhile, Gordon is at home berating Barbara for going to the factory but gets a report on Pamela's disappearance. Pamela wakes up to find that she's fully healed, but has been partially transformed into a plant. She quickly realizes that she can control and animate plants through the power of her mind. She goes to see Barbara, activating the potted plant in her room. She says she's now going to take the name of "Poison Ivy" and attack the factories directly that contaminate the environment. Barbara tries to get through to her friend without success. She doesn't want to risk Pamela being arrested by her father so she sneaks up to the Batsignal and summons Batman. Batman arrives to investigate but refuses to take Barbara with him.

Batman warns Batgirl that he knows who she is and that she's not qualified to help him.
