Dick gets out of school but is dismayed to find Alfred picking him up in a limo: he thinks the other kids will think he’s a freak. Alfred is there to take Dick to a charity event and says that Batman is meeting with Green Lantern at the Batcave. Dick is thrilled to get to meet one of his really cool heroes. Batman is working with GL to scan the galaxy since the Justice League scanners are off-line. Green Lantern warns that he’s trying to track Sinestro, a renegade Green Lantern with a yellow power ring who escaped his stasis cell. Dick arrives as Robin and oohs and awes over Green Lantern, and Batman isn’t too thrilled. The Caped Crusader is even less happy with GL says to call him if he finds any trace of Sinestro and let him handle it.
Green Lantern arrives back at the test field where he works as a pilot and Sinestro attacks him. The alien renegade demands GL’s power ring so he can add its power to his own. On the edge of defeat, Green Lantern sends his power ring away to find Batman while he reverts to his civilian identity of Hal Jordan.
Dick and Bruce are at the charity event, unaware that the Penguin is secretly planning to take the money. The Green Lantern rings floats by the Penguin and he manages to grab it and discovers it can create anything he can think of. Batman and Robin go after him but are unable to do more then keep him distracted.
Hal Jordan arrives in Gotham, carrying his power battery in a duffel bag. He hijacks a truck and rams it into the Penguin, further distracting him. Sinestro arrives and tries to take the ring from the Penguin. In over his head, the Penguin flies away, hiding in a clock tower. Batman catches up to him and suggests he give Batman the ring. The Penguin refuses until Sinestro attacks him again. Batman takes the ring and flies up into the clouds to battle Sinestro… but the ring’s charge starts to flicker as it loses energy. Sinestro notes that the ring must be recharged every 24 hours and its time is almost up.
Coming back down to Earth, Batman manages to covertly toss the ring to Hal Jordan, who uses the power battery to recharge it and regain his costume. Sinestro tortures Batman for the ring’s whereabouts but Green Lantern interrupts, knocking Sinestro aside. Batman gets close to him and when Sinestro tries to blast him to atoms he discovers that his ring is gone: Batman slipped it off his hand. The Caped Crusader delivers the final punch and Green Lantern is forced to admit that Batman can handle himself despite his lack of powers. He flies off with Sinestro while Batman notes that using a power ring isn’t his style.
