The Big Bang Theory: The Nerdvana Annihilation

Leonard is bidding in an auction for a miniature time machine, but wasn’t expecting to actually get it. When he does so and it is delivered, the guys are shocked to learn that it isn’t a miniature after all and end up injuring themselves while carrying it up the stairs. Afterwards, Penny is even more shocked that they even bother to use so much time on stuff like that, so she calls them “pathetic”, hurting Leonard’s feelings terribly and resulting in him getting rid of all his geek stuff.

Episode Quotes
Sheldon: I asked for turkey and roast beef with lettuce and Swiss on whole wheat.
Rajesh: What did they give you?
Sheldon: Turkey and roast beef with Swiss and lettuce on whole wheat.
(Everybody stairs at Sheldon.)
Sheldon: It's the right ingredients, but in the wrong order.

(Talking about getting help to fix the elevator.)
Howard: Not necessary. I have a Master's in engineering. I remotely repair satellites on a regular basis. I troubleshoot space-shuttle payloads. When the Mars rover started pulling to the left, I performed a front-end alignment from 62 million miles away.
(Howard presses the elevator button and presses his ear against the door.)
Howard: No, that baby's broken.

Penny: Oh please, it's not a time machine. If anything, it looks like something Elton John would drive through the Everglades.

Rajesh: Too bad. I called dibs.
Howard: You can't just call dibs.
Rajesh: I can and I did. Look up "Dibs" in Wikipedia.

Episode Goofs
When Leonard dreams about Penny needing to go to the Cheesecake Factory but the guys having problems dragging the time machine up the stairs, Leonard opens the door to the elevator by taking the entire door from right to left. However, this wouldn't be possible with a real elevator, and even though this was just a dream, we can clearly see that the wall on each side of the elevator can't hold the space for the big door.

Cultural References
Howard: A time machine from the movie The Time Machine?

The Time Machine is a franchise of films, novels and many comic book adaptions. It is all based on the original novel, written by H.G. Wells and first published in 1895.

Leonard: (sarcastically) No, a time machine from Sophie's Choice.

Sophie's Choice is an American drama film released in 1982, and tells the story of a Polish immigrant (Sophie) and her lover sharing a boarding house with a young writer from Brooklyn. The movie is widely regarded as being "Meryl Streep's Finest Performance", and has been nominated for 9 awards, including 2 Golden Globe's and 4 Academy's.

Sheldon: In a Venn diagram, that would be an individual located...

A Venn diagram is a set of diagrams that show all hypothetically possible logical relations between a finite collection of sets. If you need more information, please read the Wikipedia article.

Sheldon: My Spidey sense tells me this has something to do with Penny.

Sheldon is referring to Spiderman's enhanced reflects, called "Spidey sense", although Sheldon uses it in a meaning where he can "predict" the reason for Leonard's unusual behavior, which is not the biggest part of Spiderman's power. There isn't a lot more to say.

Rajesh: And I'll throw in my original 1979 Mattel Millenium Falcon...

Millenium Falcon is a fictional spaceship in the Star Wars universe, commanded by smuggler Han Solo and his Wookiee first mate, Chewbacca. The design of the Falcon was, humoristically, inspired by a hamburger, with the cockpit playing the part of the olive on the side. The design of the Falcon has been re-modified, re-scaled and re-used as Princess Leia's ship, Tantive IV.

Leonard: ...or Darth Vader voice changers.

Darth Vader is the central antagonist in the Star Wars trilogy. The character wears a suite and a helmet that covers up the actor's body, and the character has therefore been portrayed by many different actors. Darth Vader has become one of the most iconic villains in film history.

Sheldon: In Back to the Future...

Back to the Future is a critically-acclaimed 1985 American sci-fi film that was directed by Robert Zemeckis, cro-written by Bob Gale and produced by Steven Spielberg. The story in the movie is Marty McFly accidentally sending himself back in time from 1985 to 1955, where he sees his parents when they were teenagers, and trouble begins when Marty gets a little more than involved in their lives. The film grossed $380 million worldwide and was the most successful movie in 1985.

Rajesh: Look up "Dibs" in Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is a free, multilingual encyclopedia created by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation. "Wiki" stands for What I Know Is, and their official slogan is "The free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.". On June 4, 2009, there was reportedly about 2.9 million different English articles.

Sheldon: ...would I not find Beanie Babies, Care Bears, My Little Ponies or Hello Kitty?

Beanie Babies are stuffed animals made by Ty Incorporated and introduced in 1993. In general, the animals have an inner "posable lining" and are stuffed with plastic pellets rather than stuffing.

Care Bears are similar to Beanie Babies; a collection of bears, but with different colors and specialized insignias. These bears are made by American Greetings, first introduced in 1981, and had their special 25th anniversary in 2007, the bears' relaunching.

My Little Pony is a line of toy ponies in different colors, launched in 1983. It is produced by Hasbro, and the success of the toys was always increasing; at one time even outselling Barbie. The 25th anniversary of My Little Pony was celebrated in 2008.

Hello Kitty is a fictional character produced by Sanrio, a Japanese company. Its first design was by Ikuko Shimizu, and the character was introduced to the US in 1976, though already introduced to Japan in 1974. The Kitty is specifically known for being a female white cat with a red bow and no drawn mouth, and apparantly, lives in London, England.
