Oscar sends Jaime to the remote home of recluse Cyrus Carstairs, who developed a new alloy with military applications. He has learned that a member of the Carstairs family intends to sell the top secret formula to the highest bidder, and assigns Jaime the task of recovering it first. But once there, she discovers the Carstairs family are very strange indeed, and that Cyrus can still reach his greedy relatives even from beyond the grave...
