When Amber finally admits to Deacon that she cares, he asks her why she’s being so quick to give it up. Amber explains that he’s fallen in love with more than just her. She convinced the Forresters from going along with her new plan so Deacon wouldn’t lose his son forever if she spent the rest of the month with him. Deacon wonders if that’s the only reason she did this, noting that if Deacon still gets to see Little Eric, Amber will still get to see Deacon. Deacon tells Amber he loves her and implores her not to leave. Amber asks if a month with her is worth never seeing his son again and tells Deacon that she has to leave. They embrace. Tearfully, Deacon hugs his son. He tells Amber that he’s letting her go tonight, but he’s not giving up on her. Eric tells Stephanie that Brooke is a mother who thinks her son is making a mistake and Eric’s not so sure that she’s wrong. Stephanie insists that Amber and Rick understand the meaning of commitment. She tells Thorne that if Brooke doesn’t back off, it’s going to be war all over again. Thorne reminds Stephanie that Rick is Brooke’s son, not hers. Brooke tries to make Rick see that Amber and Deacon are falling in love and that Rick will just get burned if he trusts her. Rick thinks that it’s completely one-sided and that Deacon won’t be a problem. Rick tells Brooke that he and Amber are getting married in a week, but Brooke urges him to wait a few more weeks. Stephanie overhears and accuses Brooke of guilt tripping Rick.
