When Cesare lands in northern Italy with a French army, Alexander is furious at what he sees as a challenge to his authority, but reluctantly accedes to Cesare's plan to destroy the Sforza dynasty. Catherina, meanwhile, has come up with a plot of her own: biological warfare. Concerned about the lack of funds for his Crusade, Alexander imposes punitive taxes on the newly arrived Jewish community.

Cesare's diplomatic mission to France is a success, with the help of his old advisor Machiavelli. Back in Rome, the seductive and dangerously insane Bianca makes a drastic statement. Lucrezia travels to Naples accompanied by her husband and Micheletto. King Ferdinand remains steadfast in his determination that little Giovanni will not be recognized at court. Upon learning this, Lucrezia plots against him.

3x5: The Wolf and the Lamb recap: The episode begins with Lucrezia being consoled by Rodrigo for the humiliation she had to go through. In the night, while immersed in a bathtub with Gonzaga’s wife, Rodrigo tells her that she has to leave him and go back to her husband. She is reluctant, but Rodrigo tells her that he can’t afford a scandal; hence she has no other choice. Caterina has a talk with the members of all the rival families of Italy, who hate the Borgias, asking them to join forces with her. They decide to hold off on giving her an answer till Cesare returns from France, so they can gauge, what he has been up to... read more.

3x4: The Banquet Of Chestnuts recap: The episode begins with a ceremony in which Rodrigo is appointing a new cardinal. The new cardinal is Giulia’s brother and it is her wish that Rodrigo has fulfilled by making this appointment. After the ceremony, Cardinal Sforza briefs the new cardinal about his duties. After arriving at a nunnery, Cardinal Versucci, who was recently ousted by Rodrigo, hands a nun some documents. He then tells the nun that he has to be on his way. At the papal palace, Rodrigo sees Lucrezia approach him and asks how married life is suiting her. 3x3: Siblings recap: The episode begins with Rodrigo overseeing Cardinal Vesucci being stripped of all his titles and property. Vesucci gives Rodrigo a piece of his mind before walking out of his court. Cesare reminds Rodrigo that he is running out of cardinals, but he retorts that it’s important to get rid of the traitors. Before clearing out his office, Vesucci gathers all the important documents lying there and puts them in a bag, so he can take them with him. The physician figures out Canterella is the poison that has been used and says there is no way to save Rodrigo, who is quickly fading away. Lucrezia isn’t ready to give up just yet, saying she has heard charcoal can be used as an antidote against the poison.
