Try, Try Again - Recap

The episode begins with, Riley’s client listening to an audio book during his massage. The man was actually Jolene’s client but is now being serviced by Riley. Georgia finds that Jolene has a crush on him. Meanwhile, just as Riley touches the client’s penis, he wakes up and is visibly shocked, Riley realizes he doesn’t know about the extras and leaves the room embarrassed. Outside, Riley tells Jolene what happened inside, with a completely embarrassed expression. Back at home, Riley saves her tips in a box she hides near the fridge. Meanwhile, Lacey tells Riley that Dale didn’t want babies, but she went off the pill without his knowledge; so Dale would have to adjust with Lacey being pregnant, once he knows about it.

Riley doesn’t think what Lacey is doing is a good idea. Meanwhile, Linette comes in and Riley makes it clear to her that she isn’t crazy about her shifting to New Orleans with Garrett. Riley feels Linette is rushing into things with Garrett and should take it slow. Linette wants Riley to see other men, now that she has removed her ring. Meanwhile, the girls at work tease Riley about the incident she had earlier with Jolene’s client Josh. They prompt her to date him, as he is attractive and Riley too likes him. The girls are shocked to hear that Kyle was Riley’s first and only. Meanwhile, the girls are curious about Jolene having some sort of a secret relationship and not telling them about it. Meanwhile, Evan confronts his boss about not being given a raise, as was promised. The boss tells him, he shall see what he can do, and then asks him if he has begun seeing his brother’s wife, Riley.

Evan says nothing and leaves seemingly offended with the question. Meanwhile, Josh comes into the spa, and Riley apologizes to him profusely for earlier. He then asks Riley out on a date. Riley later tells the girls that she told Josh that she would think about it. Meanwhile, Garrett’s last name ‘Landry’ seems to ring a bell with Georgia. Garrett in the meanwhile, is at Linette’s parlor, making plans with her about their trip to New Orleans. Lacey feels that Garrett wants to marry Linette, and Linette says she is ready to get married to Garrett if he asks her to. Meanwhile, Josh has left behind a cell phone with just his number saved on it for Riley as a gift. Riley seems to like the gift and calls up Josh. Riley says a yes to Josh’s offer of wanting to take her out on a date. Later the two meet up for the date and seem to hit it off. Riley on the date comes clean with Josh about Kyle having left her and the kids.

Later Garrett comes to talk to Riley about his and her mother’s relationship. He tells Riley that he wants to marry Linette, and he would like her blessings. She agrees to the idea, albeit reluctantly. Garrett requests Riley to keep it between them and not tell Linette about their conversation, as he means to surprise Linette. Meanwhile, Lacey tells Riley that Dale probably suspects something and has hence begged off sex for days. Riley tells Lacey that having a kid is no picnic. Riley then tells Lacey about her date. Later, Riley tells Evan about the date she went out on. Meanwhile, Georgia calls up Riley and tells her that she has found out, Garrett robbed money from his local church and skipped town with it. Meanwhile, Evan’s boss officially promotes him to a foreman, but doesn’t give him a raise. Later Riley tells Linette about what Garrett has done. Linette says she doesn’t believe it, and defends him saying she knows Garrett is a pious man, who does a lot of charity.

Meanwhile, Jolene tells the girls about the man she is meeting later. He was the love of her life and she is very nervous about meeting him. The girls help Jolene get ready for her date. Later she meets Sam, the man she was all nervous about meeting. It turns out Sam is the son of the man she was seeing back in 1992. She shows him his father’s photograph, saying she has kept it with her all this while. Meanwhile, Evan’s supervisor asks Evan to set him up with Riley. Evan tells him that she is seeing someone. The supervisor then taunts Evan for letting a “fine piece of ass like that” get away, Evan is livid on hearing this and punches the supervisor in the face. The supervisor in anger fires Evan from the job. Meanwhile, Riley tells Jolene she is worried about her mother. Jolene tells Riley that Garrett is now probably a changed man, and has put whatever he did behind him.

Jolene also reveals to Riley that it was amazing to meet Sam. She also surprises Riley to no end by revealing to her that Sam is her son. Jolene admits to Riley that she was too young when she had Sam, and couldn’t take care of him by herself. Riley is pleasantly surprised to see Jolene dote over her son, like any typical mother would. Meanwhile, Josh comes to meet Riley, and tells her that he wants to end the whole thing between him and Riley on a good note. They mutually agree that maybe in the future when things are different, they could see each other once again. The two then amicably part ways with a handshake. Meanwhile, Garrett and Linette are leaving for New Orleans, he tells Linette about a church he is planning to build outside Sao Paolo in Brazil, with a partner of his. Linette is shocked to hear it, as Riley has told her that Garrett had taken money from people on this same pretense 15 years ago, and had built no church.

She then tells Garrett to open the trunk of the car and hand her, her suitcase, after doing so she tells Garrett to get into his car and leave. She tells a shocked Garrett that, she knows everything about his past misdeed. Garrett tries justifying his position but has no words to cover his guilt. Later, Riley consoles a visibly hurt Linette, who is in tears. Linette then asks Riley about her relationship status. Riley tells Linette about her date, but also reveals to her how it turned out in the end. Riley tells her that she realized she probably needs to focus on her kids at the moment. Meanwhile, Lacey comes in and Riley asks her if she came clean with Dale about going off the pill.

Lacey agrees she can’t keep hiding it from Dale and plans to tell him about it. Riley supports this idea, saying Dale loves Lacey and hence will understand. Lacey then stumbles upon the box of cash Riley has hidden away in her fridge, just as Riley goes into the other room to order pizza. Lacey is visibly shocked to see so much money stashed away by Riley. Meanwhile, Linette comes into the kitchen, and so does Riley. Lacey quickly hides the box back where she found it and doesn’t question Riley or say anything about it, although she looks visibly worried with what she has seen. The episode ends at this point.
