	Assistant Police Chief Will Pope, played by J. K. Simmons While a fair and extremely good officer and politician of sorts, Chief Pope is a bit of a fly in the ointment---after all, not only is he the reason that Taylor hates Brenda (because she got he job he wanted), but he was, at one time, Brenda's lover. While their relationship since she joined the PHD has been nothing if not professional and friendly, Pope's impending divorce may prove to be a problem for Brenda and Fritz, who doesn't trust Pope's motives as far as he can throw him.
