Help Wanted - Recap

The scene opens with Captain Raydor from Internal Affairs asking Chief Johnson questions. Raydor asks about Chief Pope and Johnson’s relationship prior to her coming to Major Crimes. Johnson says that she is being a little too personal and that the relationship ended prior to her even coming to Major Crimes. She is not convinced that Pope didn’t set up the crime unit to bring in Johnson. Raydor tells that she is going to have to ride along with Johnson as a quiet observer to Major Crimes. Johnson meets with Pope to talk about what the meeting with Raydor was and how it went. He tells that he has the perfect case from the Mayor. Gregory and Melissa Disken have reported their nanny Adrianna Gomez missing and that they want to know what happened. She has only been gone for 32 hours, under the mandated 48 hours but the case is from the Mayor.

Johnson goes to investigate palled with Raydor. She doesn’t see how finding a Nanny is Major Crimes, but Johnson says that she is doing what she is told. They arrive and Avery, the son of the Diskens and Johnson and Detective Gabriel talk with his parents. They are a little hazy on the details and Raydor, upon finding out that the Mayor was involved in pushing this through, she proves that she is not a „quiet observer”. Avery proves that he knows Adriana more and tells she wasn’t showing any different signs that she was in trouble. Johnson asks if Adrianna spoke English and Raydor interrupts to say that Johnson can’t ask about the legal status of their Nanny. The Disken’s are more then willing to share that Adriana spoke English perfectly and that she is legal. Johnson asks for an address and Gregory tells that he knows where it is and gives the address.

Johnson arrives at the residence of Adriana and Lieutenant Mike Tao tells that the landlord is going to be there in a few hours but they got the key. Johnson starts to unlock the front door and Captain Raydor tells that she can’t enter without a warrant, but Johnson tells that she is performing a safety inspection to make sure that everything is alright. They enter the apartment and find Adriana’s body in a pool of blood. In the examining room, the coroner tells that she was raped and beaten to death. He tells that she was subdued with a stun gun and then raped and then beaten brutally. However, they have a sample from the rape kit. Johnson meets with the Disken’s and Commander Taylor wants to know if Johnson is thinking the Disken’s are suspects. Lt. Provenza enters in with Johnson and the Disken’s and she is asking them where they were lately. She tells that she is sorry for their loss. Lieutenant Tao walks in after the Diskens leave and takes the water Mr. Disken was drinking out of and tells that they can get his DNA from it. Captain Raydor is impressed. They need to retrace the last day that Adriana was alive.

They flashback and go through Adriana’s last day. Detective Sanchez is following the bus ride and asking people if they’ve seen her. He meets up with Detective Gabriel and the rest and they continue to ask questions and find that no one knows anything. Johnson meets with Pope and wants to know how he found out that Disken is a suspect. Commander Taylor told him. Pope tells that it is not good to hear this and that it is going to bad for him to tell the Mayor. Detective Gabriel enters and tells that there are 2 other victims. They start to see the pattern of a serial rapist and she wants Detective Gabriel to find out the results and tells him to use Pope’s name. Raydor asks if she always uses men to get what she wants and Johnson asks the same of Raydor. First victim is Lupe Nava and tells that her employer is Mr. Jeffery Walters. He tells that he doesn’t know what happened to her. Detective Sanchez takes his picture and Jeffery doesn’t want to get involved with any illegal activity and Johnson tells that Lupe was raped. Jeffery is shocked but tells that he doesn’t know where she lives.

Lt. Flynn tells that Jeffery is clean and Johnson tells that there has to be something else and there has to be a connection. Lt. Raydor likes how Johnson has the help of a FBI Agent husband to get information from the Federal Government. Marisol Gutierrez is the third rape victim and she is in the interview room. Detective Sanchez is a little flustered and goes into the video room. Johnson goes in the room with Marisol and asks if she speaks English. She tries to connect with Marisol and she tells that she doesn’t know anything. She asks for them not to send her back. She tells that the man who raped her is hurting other women too. Johnson asks if she knows the other rape victims. She doesn’t know. Johnson shows a list of men. But she doesn’t know anything.

Johnson gets the records from her husband FBI Agent Fritz. He tells that there are 5 Lupes that fit Johnson’s discription. Lucky for her they find her file but she was deported a month ago. They meet with Agent Joe Myers and he tells that she was complaining that she was raped but she waived the hearing and went on her own. Fritz asks how she was in front of Agent Myers in the first place. She was reported by her employer, Jeffery Walters. They enter Jeffery’s home and Johnson goes to see Leo, the son. Leo and Johnson talk and he says that he didn’t see any of his friends lately and he doesn’t know about Ruban. This is the same Ruban that Avery was talking about. At the Disken home, they meet with Avery and Gregory Disken yells at Johnson and her team and she tells that he needs to back off and let them close the case. He backs down and Avery tells that him and Ruban are facebook friends. At close look at the pictures, there is a picture of Ruban with Agent Myers, his dad. Myers is now the lead suspect.

Johnson and the team enter Myer’s home and find Ruban under the bed beaten up. Johnson thinks to see what Myers would do. She feels that he is going after Marisol. They find Myer’s van and Myers is at the gate with Marisol with a gun at her head. He tells that Johnson needs to back up or he will kill Marisol. The team keeps telling Johnson to back up but she is not going to. Fritz gets into position and is ready to kill Myers. A helicopter circles and Myers aims at Johnson and Fritz takes him out. He runs down the complex and yells at Johnson for being so close. They go to Myer’s van and find other women handcuffed. Detective Sanchez is in the hospital with Ruban and he is recovering. Lt. Provenza tells that Ruban’s mother is in Mexico and that Ruban is going to have to go into Children’s Services for a while. Sanchez is against this but there is not discussion. Provenza allows Sanchez to hang around until Children’s Services arrives. Back at the office, Captain Raydor comes in and tells that she has finished her investigation and tells that her initial investigation was on Johnson and that she was sent by the Mayor. She needed to see iof Johnson was a strong female and if she could handle the position. She hands her an application for the Chief of Police position to go against Chief Pope. Johnson is shocked and Raydor tells that she has 2 weeks to make up her mind.
