The scene opens with Lt. Provenza and Dect. Sanchez are upset with the screen because it keeps going up and down. Sgt. Gabriel gets a phone call. It is a woman asking for Det. Arico. Lt. Flynn starts arguing with Provenza and Gabriel tells them to be quiet. It is a woman who tells that there is someone in her house. Gabriel tries to get her information but she keeps asking for Det. Arico. The line goes dead and Sanchez tells that it is a blocked number. Commander Taylor walks in and tells that there is a Det. Varico that works Stalking Cases. Gabriel gets on the phone with the unit and tells that Varico has the week off. He requests the files and they tell that they will have them in a day. Taylor grabs the phone and tells them to fax them now and to get teams to all the stalker victims. They move on scene and eventually find one of the victims in a pool of blood she has been shot in the head and killed.

Chief Johnson arrives on scene and they identify the body as Danielle Ross. They tell that she was shot in the head and the bullet went through and hit the wall. There is a box cutter on scene and it was used on the victim after she was dead. The team recreates the scenario and finds that Danielle went to get her gun in the bedroom but it wasn’t there. When she went back into the living room, she was shot. Det. Varico enters and apologizes for taking a long time. He tells that he is off this week. He tells that he should have forced the Commissioner into protective custody sooner. Johnson is shocked to find that their victim is the head of the Parole Board. At the station, Varico tells that Danielle’s house was broken into two other times and that there was evidence that she needed protection. But, she wouldn’t take it. Chief Pope walks in and starts yelling at Johnson for not getting the other members of the Parole Board protected. Johnson tells that she is doing her best to find the killer right now. Pope yells at Varico that he didn’t force Danielle into protective custody and he tells that he did try but Pope doesn’t care. Johnson asks Pope to talk to her privately in her office. Johnson is upset that Pope barged in like that and tells if he could do better, for him to take over the case. He tells that he will.
Taylor and Johnson are meeting around the corner and Taylor tells that Pope organized at team called “Operation Swift Justice”. Johnson found some information on a Tomas Medina and they need to talk to him. Gabriel comes up and tells that Pope wants to talk to her. Taylor tells Johnson that she needs to be careful. Johnson enters Pope’s office and he asks why she didn’t tell him about Medina. She asks how he knew that and Pope tells that he is getting all the information. Pope tells that he is flying Medina into the station for questioning and wants Johnson to do the interview. She tells that she doesn’t know anything about Medina and Pope tells her to get with it. She tells that she will. Johnson tells her team to get everything they know on Medina and Johnson tells that Johnson wants to talk to Varico again and they decide to do it elsewhere.
Johnson and her team meet with Varico at Johnson’s home and Varico is turned off by the meeting at first and then Johnson tells that she just wants to get clear answers. Gabriel asks why Danielle asks specifically for Varico. He tells that he checked into Danielle all the time. He tells that he has been 7 days on and 7 days off. Taylor tells that when a new Police Chief is appointed, that could change. Varico tells that Danielle knew that her home was broken into because of the smell of Cárdenas perfume. Varico tells asks what he missed. Johnson tells that Danielle was shot with her own gun. Devastated that he missed something, Varico feels bad for himself. Taylor escorts Varico out. Johnson goes to her team at the table and asks what they got. Nothing comes up. Lt. Flynn asks for Johnson’s crust and she gives it to him after she gets a call from Provenza that Medina is at the station already.

Johnson arrives at the station and Pope is there. He tells that she is late and time is ticking. The screen acts up again and that the remote is on the same frequency as the other unit. Pop tells that Johnson is going to wear an earpiece so that they can communicate with each other during the interrogation. Johnson enters with Gabriel and he tells that he is happy that Danielle is dead. He tells that he doesn’t want to make a deal with them because they never happen. Johnson gets word from Pope to ask if he knows where Danielle lives. Sarcastically, Medina answers the question and tells that he doesn’t. Medina tells that the government released a bunch of “non-violent” offenders to make room for others and that Johnson realizes that Medina didn’t call a hit on Danielle because he doesn’t have anyone that would do it. Pope yells at Johnson that she is not listening to him and she tells that she is not getting anywhere with Medina and that the killer is an armature.
Johnson and her team go into Pope’s conference room and tell that they have nothing to really go off of. Toa tells that a Richard Conway was released and that two days later, he killed a guy that has the same crime scene photo scenario. But Conway is in jail. Gabriel suggests that they bring Conway in for question because there are hints that a female could have killed her and maybe Conway has a wife or girlfriend. Johnson and Gabriel interview Conway and he tells that he should have never been released because he knew that he was only going to get high again and that time he killed the man. He killed him over $40. He tells that he didn’t mean to kill him. Before they leave, Conway asks if
Anne Weber, the victim’s widowed wife comes in and Johnson tells that she has some bad news. Johnson smells the hint of Cárdenas on her. Gabriel tells that her husband’s killer was not the right man. She starts to faint and they catch her. Johnson tells that the LAPD are doing everything they can and Anne tells that Conway confessed. Gabriel offers to drive her home. They drive and there is a road block up ahead. They detour and this is Johnson’s plan. Anne asks who the killer is. Johnson tells that they are close to an arrest. Another road block and this leads them right in front of Danielle’s house. Anne asks where they are and tells that she has never been there. But Johnson tells that she had access to open the garage because her garage door opener opens Danielle’s garage door. Sanchez reads her the Miranda Rights. Anne confesses to killing Danielle and Johnson comes clean that they arrested the right man for the murder of her husband and now have arrested the right murderer of Danielle.

At the station, Pope tells it is unfortunate that his conclusions were off and doesn’t apologize to Varico. He is appalled and tells Johnson good luck. Johnson tells that the Chief selection has brought out the worst in him and that he could do a better job then what Pope could do. Pope tells that he is doing his best and Johnson tells that it is still not an apology. Pope walks out and shakes his head as he leaves.
