The Colbys was a spin off from the popular prime time soap opera Dynasty. Jeff Colby leaves Denver to be closer to his family in California. The series starred Charlton Heston as Jason Colby. Jeff was joined on the show by his on screen wife from Dynasty, Fallon Carrington Colby.

The series was canceled after two seasons due to low ratings and saw the characters of Jeff and Fallon return to sister show, Dynasty. The characters of Sable, Miles and Monica also ended up appearing on Dynasty.
