Reverend Purdy, played by David Ogden Stiers
Life-long minister and friend to Johnny's mother, Purdy is tied closely to Johnny's affairs. It was during his relationship with Johnny's late mother that he became trustee of the Smith estate. Mrs. Smith was very wealthy at the time of her death and this financial windfall to Purdy's ministry "Faith Heritage Alliance" propelled him to national recognition. Johnny has come to accept Purdy as a part of his life but this relationship has often placed both of them in danger. |
