Ambush - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Johnny returns fro his road trip and finds Sarah and J.J. packing up to move. Sarah refuses to listen to his suspicions that Walt was investigating something important and tells him to give it up. He goes to the police station to talk to Turner but she’s out. He touches her desk and gets a vision of her lying in the street at night, dying, while the mysterious Leo Vitali is dead nearby. Turner tells Deputy Jake that she was shot by Abraham Lincoln… then dies.

Johnny goes to Turner’s house and finds her gone there as well. He gets a vision of her walking through the park with a man, Doug O’Connell, who assures her going to Maine to take a job is the right thing. Johnny finds Doug in the house and they chat amiably, then Johnny gets a vision of Sarah at a construction site. Johnny goes there and talks to the foreman, who isn’t particularly helpful. Johnny touches a drill and gets another vision of Turner dying in the street… but this time he sees himself dead in the vision as well. Johnny pushes the foreman for answers and finds out Vitali quit a week ago and was doing outside work. Johnny goes back to the station and finds Doug there, and gets another vision of him chatting with Turner about the fact that nobody in Cleaves Mill likes her because she’s investigating the beloved Walt. In the vision Doug suggests she keep up with the investigation.

Johnny and Doug split up to find Turner and he goes to Walt’s office. Meanwhile Sarah finds J.J. desperately unpacking, insisting that Johnny is in danger. Sarah manages to calm him down so they can continue packing. Johnny gets a vision of Walt hiding some papers during a meeting with Sarah and J.J., then a vision of Turner going to a hotel. He goes there and meets her, and they find the room Vitali was hiding in. It’s been torn apart and there’s blood on the broken window. Johnny gets a vision of Vitali at a bar and they find him there drunk hiding out. Johnny touches him and gets a vision of the three of them being gunned down seconds before it happens, and gets them to safety as a gunman shoots at them… wearing an Abraham Lincoln mask.

The gunman drives away and Turner puts out an APB and they split up to head to the police station and interrogate Vitali once he sobers up. En route, Johnny talks to J.J. who has a psychic impression of Johnny in danger. Johnny reassures him and reiterates his promise not to tell Sarah about J.J.’s abilities. He meets Turner at the station and they try to get into Walt’s computer, and Johnny gets a vision of Walt setting up a security firewall and writing down a password. Before they can pursue the matter, the masked gunman breaks in and wounds Turner and Deputy Jake. They take refuge in Turner’s office, which she’s had reinforced with bulletproof glass.

The gunman starts searching the place while Johnny tends to the others’ wounds. They don’t have their cell phones and a panicky Vitali runs out the door. Johnny grabs him and gets a vision of him being gunned down, and shoves him out of the way while Turner shoots and kills the intruder. They unmask him to reveal that he’s Doug.

Turner explains that Doug was her psychiatrist, not her boyfriend as Johnny thought from the vision. Vitali reveals that he was hired by Doug to lie about building the cabin for Walt.

Johnny goes back to the house and finds Sarah ready to leave. He tries to convince her to stay and that Walt was into something big, but she leaves anyway. Deputy Jake shows up with Walt’s computer, compliments of a grateful Turner, and the news that Doug had no records on file whatsoever. Johnny uses Walt’s password, “Armageddon” written backward, and finds out that Walt was keeping photos of his “Wall of Weird” about Stillson and his involvement in the coming Armageddon.

Johnny goes into the basement to check his bulletin board and gets a vision of Walt coming down there and taking pictures, then calling someone on the phone to talk about Johnny’s father, Herb Smith.
