Eye of the Storm - Recap

The scene opens with Sherman preparing for a Hurricane Catherine that is due to hit the very location he lives in. Meanwhile, Willa’s probation officer visits her. Willa is not very pleased with the visit. She knows that her probation officer hates her. The officer then visits Knox and asks him about how Willa’s conduct. Knox tells her that Willa is an exemplary employee and he has no complaints. The probation officer wants to wrap it up quickly and get on the road before it starts raining. But that’s not going to happen and she is stuck. Just then Sherman gets a call from Isabel and she tells him that she is not going to make it as the actual hurricane is forcing her to make a stop before getting home.

Sherman is disappointed as he was planning on locking himself in with Isabel for hours; with some hurricane themed drinks. They are watching the news when they hear that a girl named Melissa Welling is missing from school. The report says that she was crossing a bridge when the storm hit and wiped out the bridge. Her bagpack was found towards the south. Mother, Karen Welling asks the people watching this footage to help her find her baby. Well all know Sherman; his hunt is about to begin. Knox tries stopping him, but it’s too late. Knox admires his friend’s guts. The officer finds this act foolish and puts this down in her notes; highlighting the behavior of Willa’s associates. But unfortunately Sherman is unable to fight the storm, and is thrown back into the bar. But Willa assures the officer that no hurricane can stop Walter Sherman!

Sherman makes a replica of the small town and the storm is via the sink hose. He explains that its not possible because it contradicts the direction of the storm. Melissa was not going home and she never reached the bridge. On the television, Melissa’s news is still on. This time one of her friends is talking about her. Sherman feels that the kid knows a lot more about Melissa than the adults. He finds another girl on television and observing her Sherman feels that she definitely knows something. Sherman updates Isabel about the incident and asks her to go to Melissa’s school and talk to the students in the auditorium; especially the girl in the army suit. Isabel reaches the school. The girl tells Isabel that Melissa was a sincere girl and didn’t do the wrong things. Sherman is sure she knows something. She tells Isabel that she saw Melissa behind the library; talking to an elderly guy in a van. It was unlike her.

She describes the van and tells Isabel that maybe she saw the same van in the parking lot this morning. At the bar Sherman wants to find Melissa Welling’s page on facebook on the computer. Willa cannot use the computer as it would be violating the rules of her probation. But she guides him through it. By now even the officer is slowly getting involved with Melissa’s case. They find the picture of the blue van and it seems like she got into the van. She was abducted!! Isabel talks to Karen. Karen tells her that Melissa is a good kid but she did take $300 from her purse a few days ago. At the bar, looking at the snake logo on the blue van; Sherman deduces that it was a plumbing van. Willa does a search on the computer and comes up with the name of the plumbing service. The officer by now is supportive of Willa using the computer. Next we see Isabel talking to the plumber. Isabel tells him that she wants to check his van. She asks him whether he has met Melissa Welling but he tells her that he never has.

Meanwhile, Timo struggles against the storm, and crawls into the bar. Isabel checks the plumber’s wallet. She finds the $300 in his wallet. He finally succumbs and tells Isabel that he did not harm the girl; but he did sell a gun to her. At the bar, the team searches print outs of the FB pages and find out that Melissa had an enemy girl named Renee. Willa finds a video posted online; which showed Renee beating up Melissa. Melissa is lying on the ground, crying; when Renee is kicking the life out of her. Anyone did that to me; even I’d buy a gun….. Knox says. Sherman updates Isabel about the video. The officer too knows Renee. The officer tells Willa that Renee has been in and out of the system more than she could count. She checks the database for more information on Renee. Just then the power goes out.

The officer is not a such a bad person. She shares her story and tells the team why she became a probation officer. They together try putting the pieces together by acting as the human internet. They try to remember as much as they can about the video. Knox had noticed that there were Yum Yum burger wrappers everywhere while Willa recalls that she did hear church bells. They discuss further about tunnels and the probable place where Melissa was beaten. After a lot of pondering they are pretty sure where the place is. Knox and Sherman get to Sherman’s generator which is operated by a bicycle!! He contacts Isabel over the radio and updates her with their findings and the exact place where Melissa could be found. Isabel reaches the place as per Sherman’s directions and finds blood there. Renee has a car. Now there are two girls in a car and one is badly hurt.

Which way could they go…the question that needs to be answered in 5minutes? Walter knows that Melissa has a good heart. He asks Knox to radio Isabel and tell her that we should assume that Melissa has taken Renee to the hospital. And that is exactly what happened; but the only thing is, that Melissa couldn’t reach the hospital because an electric pole fell on their car. But Isabel reaches on time. Melissa tells her that she only tried to scare Renee but Renee got shot because she tried to grab the gun from her. It was an accident. Even Sherman arrives at the spot. Sherman wears a coat that is insulated and pulls the electric cables away from the car. The girls are safe and they are taken to the hospital.

Next morning Knox is seen lifting Willa’s trailer that got tossed over by the storm the previous night. The officer is ready to leave; and the nice lady that she is, she lifts Willa’s restriction and allows her to access the computer under supervision. She tells Willa that in life she is going to have to make a lot of choices and she hopes that Willa makes the right ones. Just then Melissa arrives with her mother and Isabel. Karen is very glad and thanks Sherman for finding her daughter. She is ready to pay whatever fee is required to be paid. But Sherman waives off the finder fees through Knox. He is a very odd man. The episode ends.
