Will comes to live with his aunt and uncle in Bel-Air. Phil isn't too impressed by Will's behavior, especially teaching Ashley to rap and ruining his image to his members of the law firm.
To Uncle Phil's dismay, Will encourages Ashley to switch from violin to drums.
Will wants to go out on a date with a girl he met at the country club, but her father is extremely overprotective, dampening Will's chances. He asks for Carlton's help to change him just for his interview with her father, which works, but he soon finds out that the girl likes guys who act like Will.
Phil is going to receive an award. This causes his parents to come to town.
Will's friend from Philly comes over to visit him, and the Banks don't like him. It gets even worse when he and Hilary fall for each other.
Will and Carlton are driving Henry Furth's car to Palm Springs, until they get pulled over by a police officer. They're taken to a station for questioning, where Carlton completely ruins Will's plans to get out of there, ending them in jail. Phillip and Vivian see them on TV after wards and go to bail them out. Carlton struggles to accept the fact they were stopped because they were black.
Will joins the Bel-Air Academy poetry club because he adores the woman leader, so he lies and says that he is a poet called Raphael De LaGhetto and since she believes him, she asks him to show his poetry.
When the Banks go to the mall to prepare for their costume party, Will and Carlton struggle to find dates.
A clip show - Will and Carlton are still trying to get a date before each other, when they both see this girl she has to decide. But she chooses Carlton, is she too good to be true?
Will sets Geoffrey up on a date-and falls for her himself.
Will joins the basketball team at school, the same team Carlton's in, and immediately becomes the star player. Carlton starts feeling bad when he feels Phillip is paying more attention to Will than to him.

When he says he has to go work on a big trucking deal and abandons Will again he accepts that Uncle Phil is the closest thing to a father he can find.

Will is on a date with a girl, and realizes he loves Lisa. Also, Susan Powter helps the family exercise.
Will tries to make a good impression on Fred, Lisa's father, but regrets it later. Hillary, Carlton, and Ashley look for Phil's will.

Carlton misses out on a date with the perfect woman for him, and ends up lonely again. Will decides to take him out on a double date with someone else and his date. That would have gone fine, before Mad Dog shows up.

Will and Carlton go to Las Vegas to celebrate Carlton's 21st birthday, but soon Carlton gets a gambling problem, and loses all their money. Will and Carlton have to enter a dance contest to get the money to go back home.
Carlton and Hilary volunteer in a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving, but for selfish reasons. Meanwhile, Will takes Uncle Phil to a massage parlor as the family prepares Thanksgiving dinner.

The other members of the family feel that Phil and Vivian's breaking up will affect their lives negatively, so, Will, Carlton, and Helen try to bring them back together.

Will catches the Church reverend making a pass at Vivian. In the meantime, Carlton and Ashley compete for the lead in the church choir.

Ashley gets an offer from and ad agency to appear in a bikini. Phil takes offense to this, and takes her out of it. What he doesn't know: this could be the beginning of Ashley's future.
Hilary gets to sub in for Kathy Lee on Live with Regis and Kathy Lee, but they don't get along very well. In the meantime, Carlton takes his father for granted in a golf tournament, where Will subs in later. Will and Phil have a great time, making Carlton envious of Will, and wants to play with his father again.
William Shatner guest stars in this episode on Hilary's talk show, which she says is moving to New York. Ashley also wants to go to New York for her future, but Phil is reluctant to let her go.
When Carlton, Ashley, and Hilary all move onto bigger things, Will tells them he bought an apartment. Now he must find one when Uncle Phil puts the house for sale.
With the Banks selling up and Will still no place to go, he attempts to send off all potential buyers. However, when this plan fails, Will must confess to Phil and Vivian that he has no place to go. Alas, the family moves on to their own separate lives, leaving the house behind for good.
