Kimble is now in Santa Barbara, California, working as an apprentice sail maker. He falls in love with the boss' niece Karen, but is quickly given a warning by her brother to stay away. Suddenly, his boss Lars suffers a fatal heart attack and requests that Richard takes care of Karen. Meanwhile, Gerard hopes to catch Kimble by posting a story in the newspaper of a one armed robber being caught in Los Angeles.
