Richard is put in jail by a local sheriff in a small Kentucky town after being involved in a car accident. He is helped by his cell mate in breaking out and hides at his ranch house. Kimble notices that his family treat the slow witted man badly having blamed him for burning down the barn years earlier. Richard vows to prove the man is innocent and finds out Gerard is flying to Kentucky having heard he was seen there.
