The scene opens in a happy neighborhood and Claire is cutting roses. Emily, Claire’s daughter is caught playing with her skateboard without her helmet. Emily’s skateboard goes out on the street and she starts to run out for it. There is a car coming fast. At the last moment the driver sees her and smashes into the mailbox. Claire runs out to her daughter and asks if she is alright. Emily tells that she just wants to go to school and a neighbor drives her to school. Claire inspects the driver. He says he is alright but turns and shows that he has a huge cut on his forehead. Claire tells that he needs to get inside. As Claire is fixing him up, he tells that there is no need to call his client because he was on his way out of “The Gates” when he crashed. Claire sees the blood on the cotton swabs and reacts a little. The guy shows signs that he is “interested” in Claire until Claire tells that she is married. She tells that he gives up easy and she flirts with him telling him that her husband is out of town. They move to the kitchen and Claire says that she has a “thing” for kitchens. They kiss and Claire’s fangs come out and she bites the contractor.

A truck pulls up to “The Gates” and it is Nick Monohan, the new chief of police. Eddy Barns, the security guard of the gate introduces himself to him. Nick reminds Eddy to ask for identification before handing the keys over to a house. Nick and his family pull up to their new home and it is bigger then they are used to. Nick tells Sarah that things are going to be better now that they are at “The Gates”. The scene cuts to Claire, who is in the shower. She is wiping the blood off of her. She gets out and starts to apply lotion on her skin. There is a patch of light and as she walks over it, she is burned by it lightly.

Nick and his children Charlie and Dana arrive at school Charlie is trying to get everything settled in. Nick drives to the police station and Officers Marcus and Lee introduce themselves to Nick. Marcus tells that they have all cameras of “The Gates” in operating order and points out that there is a discrepancy with the Radcliff home. The truck of the contractor Mark Woodbury was never seen leaving “The Gates” and that the last time they saw Mark was when he went inside of Claire’s home. Meanwhile, Claire introduces herself to Sarah Monohan and she tells that Sarah is a little stressed. Claire mentions an herbal shop of Peggy that has a cure for everything and that she should really go see her. At school, Charlie’s new class is discussing the meaning of O’Conner and the book that he wrote. Charlie, after Brett made a comment of O’Conner, tells Brett and Andie, girl to who Charlie shows interest, and shows his smarts in English Literature. Andie introduces herself later to Charlie and is interested to talk to him. However, Andie walks over to her boyfriend Brett and tells that she was only getting Charlie interested in Mock Trial.

At the police station, Marcus tells that Mark has had a missing person’s report filed on him and Nick wants to visit the Radcliff’s home. Meanwhile, Claire is trying to bottle the blood when her husband, Dylan, comes in. He tells that the garage door won’t open. He smells the wine glass that she gives him and tells that there is a different smell then normal. He grabs Claire by the throat and tells that she slipped and asks where the body is. She tells that it is in the freezer. The doorbell rings. Claire and Dylan meet with Nick and Marcus about Mark being missing. Claire talks about the cut on Mark’s forehead and Dylan tells Mark could have passed out from the concussion.

At Devon’s Day Spa, Sarah meets Devon to get some herbs to calm her stress from Peg. Devon tells that she has better methods then Peg does and that she will be taken care of “just fine”. Charlie and his sister are walking around and Andie tells that Charlie is late for the Mock Trial set up. She tells that they have a lie detector for their way to make money and that it works. On the football field, Brett’s teammate tells that Andie is getting a little too friendly with Charlie. Brett goes into a rage and tackles the other player hard. He turns around and his eyes are not normal. The coach tells him to take a break. Brett is walking home and Lucas rides up along side of him and tells him that he better not reveal himself. Brett brushes him off but Lucas tells Brett to run with the others. Brett informs that running is illegal and that he is trying. Lucas tells that if he changes his mind to let him know. Outside the police station, Lee and Marcus go look for Mark’s truck to see if they find anything. Lee questions the real reason why the last Chief of police retired after he shot an unarmed man in the station and that there is more to the story.

At Nick’s home, it is dinner time and Sarah tells that Claire brought over the lasagna for them. Nick is not happy because Clair and Dylan are possible suspects in the disappearance of Mark Woodbury. Meanwhile, Claire drives up to Eddy at the gate of the community and gives him a plate of cookies and tells that she has to handle some business. She then drives off. The next scene shows Dylan setting the scene of Mark passed out and Dylan bites him. He walks back and tells that he needed to look like he was attacked by wolves and that it was worth it to do.

The next morning, Charlie meets Andie in the auditorium and she has the lie detector test that they are going to try out. She hooks Charlie up and tells him to answer truthfully. His heart rate starts to increase being around Andie and she can tell that he likes her. She leaves upset. Brett sees Andie go out with Charlie following right after her. He confronts Andie and she tells that nothing is going on. He punches the locker and puts a dent in it. Charlie enters the bathroom and finds the bathroom in a wreck. He hears growling noises that stop when he approaches one of the stalls. Brett comes out and tells that he and Andie are together and for Charlie to back up. Back at the station, Mr. Buckley enters and talks about how it is not necessary to search anyone’s house for anything because the people of the Gates pay premium not to have that type of invasion. Nick starts to argue but Mr. Buckley brings up Chicago and says that the Chief of Police needs to settle down at “The Gates” and not to let him down. Nick agrees.

Devon is mixing up herbs when she hears Peg enter in her shop. They talk that Devon is messing with Sarah and that her tea is doing “stuff” to people around “The Gates”. She tells that there is nothing wrong with anything and that Peg is jealous that Sarah went to her instead of her. Nick is at home and Lee calls him telling that his search warrant has been denied to search the Radcliff’s. However, this doesn’t stop him from searching. Outside the Radcliff home, Claire wakes up to hear Nick moving around the house. She jumps down from the top part of the house and starts to track Nick. Outside, Nick is getting close to Claire when Dylan appears. Nick tells that there is a prowler on the loose and he is on the lookout. Dylan leads Nick to safety from the danger that lied around the corner.

Back in the house, Claire and Dylan talk about Claire wanting to kill Nick. He tells that she is going away but she says that she can do better. He reminds her that they have Emily to take care of and that she can’t be doing what she did. Claire cries and tells him that he made her the way she is, a vampire. Back inside Nick’s house, Sarah wakes up and finds Nick taking off his boots. She finds out that he was snooping around the Radcliff’s. She tells that he needs to calm it down and not to have another incident like in Chicago. He tells that he will calm down.

In the morning, Claire tells Dylan that she is going to join the book club to blend in more with the rest. At the school carnival, Andy is trying to get people to take their lie detector test. Charlie apologizes that he overreacted with Andie but she tells that she is the one afraid that she was feeling something for Charlie and that is why she left quickly. Claire and Peg meet and she asks what she could do with “cravings”. Devon walks up and tells that a neighbor saw Claire putting the contractor’s truck in her garage and told her that she made her forget but doesn’t know how long it will last. Andie meets Charlie in the forest Brett is watching them. They hear growls from what seems to be an animal. It is Brett and he is a Werewolf. He is tackled by Lucas who tells him to wait. Nick gets a call from the police of the neighboring city and they need to know if it is Mark Woodbury, at examination, Nick tells that it is not. But Marcus and Lee are disgusted. It is Phelps, the old Police Chief of “The Gates”.
