What Lies Beneath - Recap

The scene opens with wolves running through the forest. They tackle a deer and in the next scene, Lucas Ford is eating it. Simon Ford, Lucas’s father, tells Lucas that he needs to stop making it like a game and get with it. Nick Monohan and Marcus are looking at the dead body of Phelps, the last Police Chief of “The Gates” and the coroner tells that they are going to have to change their brochure and that is not the safest place to live anymore. Nick walks out and meets Mr. Buckley again. He tells that the body was found outside of “The Gates” and falls under the jurisdiction of the city police. However, Nick tells that he is going to handle the case. Mr. Buckley feels that it is a good way to monitor the case.

At the Monohan home, Dana and Sarah are talking and Dana tells that there is something different about Sarah’s demeanor. She tells that she is on her second cup of coffee which means that she is stressed. Charlie walks in and scolds his sister and Dana tries to explain that Sarah is upset about Nick’s case that he is working on. Nick walks in and scolds Dana for speaking “Cop Talk” at the table and that she has to do dishes for a week. Nick tells Sarah about the Police Chief found dead but they need to act normal. Meanwhile at Andie’s house, Andie sees that she has a vein showing down her back. Marcus is waiting in line for coffee and meets Teresa. She offers to buy him a coffee for his sad looks and he agrees to buy her a muffin.

At the Radcliff’s, Claire sneaks into bed with her husband Dylan. He jumps on top of her and puts his fangs out. He tells that Emily is in the other room, but Claire tells that she is at school. They kiss. At school, Brett tries to call Andie and Lucas comes up behind him and says that Andie is not for him and that she is going with Charlie. But he is not going to give up. Andie goes to Peg’s office and shows the vein on her back. She tells her not to worry and that it is stress that is causing her rash. She instructs that she needs to limit the intake of stress. At the station, Marcus and Lee tell that they found fingerprints on the car. Nick asks if the chief had any senior officers that worked with the Phelps. Marcus mentions a Chad Taylor. Back at the Radcliff’s Claire gets a box from Devon’s Day Spa. It is a box of garlic with a note “Got Cravings”. Nick meets with Chad and talks about his insubordination while on the force. He tells that Phelps made police reports disappear and that Claire Radcliff and others paid Phelps a lot of money.

Claire meets with Devon and asks what she is doing threatening her. Devon tells that Claire should be worried about the neighbor who saw Claire pulling the contractor’s truck out of her garage. She tells in order for the neighbor to forget, she needs a vile of Claire’s blood to do a spell. Meanwhile, Nick meets Dylan and talks about the fact that Claire’s name keeps popping up in an investigation. He tells that he had no clue that Phelps was dead and that he is as shocked as everyone. At the mention of the chief erasing a file of Claire’s, Dylan tells that she had a nosebleed and that is why she had blood all over her blouse. Nick doesn’t believe him. At school, Charlie goes up to Andie and asks where she was. She tells that she needs to limit her stress and that she can’t handle him right now. She tells that she has a boyfriend but they get placed in the same team together. Andie walks off to horse riding lessons and Brett follows to want to talk to her. She tells that she is going through a lot and doesn’t want to deal with it. Brett tells that he loves her. She is still taken back and doesn’t know what to tell him.

Lucas and his father are cutting the dear that they caught at the beginning of the episode and Nick comes up and tells that he needs to talk about Lucas. Simon and Nick talk about Lucas’s incident last fall. Nick tells that Chad filed the report but Simon discredits him. He tells that if Lucas was in anything bad, then he would know and that he would deal with it. Nick leaves. The dad slams the knife in the table and punches Lucas. He tells that he is done covering for him. Nick is back at the station and tells that Dylan and Simon are hiding something. They get Chad to look at calls with them and Marcus tells that no match goes through the outside fingerprints but Chad recommends that they search the residents’ fingerprints. Claire is at home with Dylan and Claire tells that Emily doesn’t like her stories. Dylan is upset and tells that Nick was over to tell that Chief Phelps is dead. He brings up that incident where she was driving home and had blood on her. Dylan wants to know where the blood came from and she tells that it spilled on her. She says that it was on her way back home from his work. She paid Phelps to get rid of the file. The phone rings and Dylan thinks that it Chief Monohan but it is Sarah telling that they want to set up ice-cream date with the kids.

At school, Charlie runs into Lucas who tells that his dad needs to stop harassing them. He slams Charlie against the wall. He tells Charlie that his father is not the murderer but that Charlie’s father is the one that killed someone. Brett runs up and pulls Lucas off Charlie. He grabs Brett’s neck and tells him to stay out of it. Teresa calls Marcus up and wants to know if he wants to go out on a date. He thinks that it is a good idea but he has to go because he has results from the prints on the car of Chief Phelps. The prints place Simon Ford inside the chief’s car. They go to Simon’s home and the door is locked. Nick tells that he is going to check around back. Simon appears and tells that the meeting in the car was because of extortion. He paid Phelps money to get rid of his son’s record. At school, Andie walks up to Charlie and tells that they need to go horseback riding. Sarah and Claire walk around and tell that their daughters are already Facebook friends. They walk up and see Devon talking to their daughters. She tells that they are more then welcome to come down to her Spa. Lee gets information about the chief’s extortion methods and tells that he has been doing it for years and that is why he could afford all the nice things. Peg is talking with Andie’s father and she tells that Andie is experiencing signs of the Succubus Pheromone and that she needs to stay away from any man because they could be in mortal danger. Andie and Charlie are horseback riding and something spooks Charlie’s horse. He falls on the ground and Andie rushes to his side. She thinks that he is unconscious but he opens his eyes. Lucas is watching in the woods and sees Andie kissing Charlie.

Back at the station, the prints come back on the employee fingerprints and it is Chad who is the one with the dirty fingers in Phelps car. He denies it but Nick brings up the fact that Chad knew that Phelps bought a new SUV three months ago and he told them that he hasn’t seen the chief for a year. Chad is arrested for the murder of Phelps. Claire and Emily get back from the play date and Dylan tells that he doesn’t feel safe where they are at. He is tired of turning around everytime he hears a siren or get scared every time they get a phone call. Claire tells that they will be alright.Marcus is with Teresa at a play and he asks why she chose him. She tells that he felt sad and that is something that they have in common and that maybe they can help each other. At Devon’s Day spa, Nick picks up tea and tells that Chad had the same tea. He wonders how he got it when he wasn’t allowed to go inside of „The Gates”. Devon informs him that she has a website and that she ships worldwide. She tries to give Nick some free tea and he tells that he can’t accept gifts. But she tells that it is for his wife. The next scene shows Claire entering Devon’s Spa and tells that she will give a vile of blood to make the threats stop. She tells that all problems are going to be solved.
