Surfacing - Recap

The scene opens with Nick waking up from a nightmare. Sara tells that she is getting worried about him and he tells that he is fine. She finds a bag of herbs under his pillow. The next day, Sara goes to Devon and she tells that the dream satchel should have gotten rid of Nick’s nightmares and wonders if it is a deeper problem. She tells Sara that she needs to forget that she came to her for help with this. Sara asks what she said and Devon sees that it worked. Later, Devon drinks a potion that she brewed and sees Nick’s nightmare. She walks over to her book and looks at a Summoning Spell. At the station, Leigh walks up to Nick and tells that they have had reports of dogs fighting. She tells that she is going to take the call and Nick tells Leigh to go home after the call. Nick gets to work and suddenly equipment turns on and he wonders what is going on. He walks out and a dead looking Teresa is there.

Nick asks if Leigh was at the station last night and she tells that she wasn’t and that the only person who has the ability to turn on the system is her. Nick is suspicious. At school, Dana gives Charlie his Algebra book and he tells that he needed it this morning. Andie says hello to Dana and then to Charlie, but he doesn’t answer back. Dana tells Charlie that Andie said hi and he tells that this is how grown ups act when they are lied to. Meanwhile, Claire gets a craving and goes to the blood cellar and gets some blood. Suddenly Emily is there and is suspicious to what her mom is drinking and Claire tells that they are going to go out for ice-cream. At the station, Leigh enters and tells Nick that she looked into the matter and tells that he was alone.

Nick goes out to his car and sees Teresa in the rear mirror. He then sees her walking through the crowd of people but she disappears. At the Radcliffe’s, Dylan asks if she wants to go away and renew the bond that was broken between him and Claire and they decide on London. The phone rings and it is Nancy. Dylan asks Claire if Nancy can come over tomorrow and she tells that she can. They schedule it for 12:00. Dylan asks if she is sure about it and Claire tells that she is not going to fight over Emily with Nancy. At the Monohan’s Sara and Nick get “busy” but he stops when he sees Teresa instead of his wife. They visit Devon and Nick is refusing to talk about the problem and she gives him a remedy. Outside Sara tells Nick that he can’t just ignore the problem. He tells that he has been reliving bad things in his life and she tells that they will only go away if he tries. He agrees. Meanwhile, Dana meets with Andie about the lies that she told and Andie tells that she did come clean and told Charlie things that no one else knows and he just walked away. She thanks Dana for the yogurt and walks away.

Dylan and Claire get ready for Nancy and Mrs. Stanley from the Department of Child Services is with Nancy. At the station, Nick is sitting and the lights flicker. Suddenly he chokes up something dark and Marcus asks if he is alright. Nick tells that it went down the wrong tube. He looks and sees only his sandwich. Claire and Dylan meet with Mrs. Stanley and Nancy and she tells that it is simply a visit to make sure that Emily is well taken care of and that there are no problems. Dylan asks if his lawyer needs to be present and Mrs. Stanley tells that it is an informal visit only. She asks to speak to Emily in her room and they agree. There is a knock on the door and it is Nick. He tells that he wants to see Teresa’s body and Dylan tells that it is possibly underwater by now. Nick doesn’t care and Dylan gives him directions. Nancy excuses herself and Claire tells that Emily might have seen her drinking yesterday. Claire asks if all the doors are locked. He tells that they are.

Nick follows Dylan’s map and asks to see Teresa’s body but cannot find it. He digs around more in the water and finds worms and Teresa’s necklace, but no Teresa. He visits Peg and she tells that spirits tend to linger after he tells of his visitor. She tells that there are ways to make it leave and by convincing it to leave, that should be enough. Claire asks if Nancy and Mrs. Stanley drove down together and she tells that they did to save on gas. Nancy tells that she did this to make sure that Emily was in a home that was safe. Mrs. Stanley comes down and tells that Emily is well taken care of and that she has a good imagination and that she calls her parents Dragon Slayers in her castle. Nancy thanks them and tells Dylan to send over the copy of the adoption paperwork so that she can make sure it is legit.

At the station, he tells Leigh and Marcus to go home for the night and places the locket on the table. Suddenly the equipment goes weird and sees Teresa’s face. Suddenly he sees her in front of him. He tells her to leave him alone and she disappears. Nick picks up the locket and drives to where Teresa’s body is and drops the locket in the water. Dana is at home and she hears a noise. She gets up and looks out the window and sees nothing. There is muddy water on the floor. She walks away thinking it was Charlie and the silhouette of Teresa is there. The next morning, Dana tells Charlie that she knows it was him and he denies it. Sara asks who tracked muddy water in and Dana tells it was Charlie. Nick comes in and Sara asks how he slept and he said a lot better than he has in ages. She asks him to fix the garbage disposal and he tells that he has to go to work. Meanwhile, Emily is having breakfast and Dylan teases her about the breakfast. She gets up to brush her teeth and Dylan tells that yesterday was close. Claire agrees and Dylan asks when they are going to tell Emily about themselves and how. She has a plan.

Sara is at home trying to find the problem with the garbage disposal and she finds Teresa’s necklace inside. Dana is in the pool and there is something in the water. Charlie jumps in the pool and Dana tells that she knows that there is a secret that Andie told him and that if he likes her enough, then he needs to do something about it. Suddenly Charlie goes underwater and Dana starts screaming. Inside, Nick finds out that Sara found a necklace in the garbage disposal and Nick tells her to take it off. They hear Dana’s scream and they run outside. Nick sees Charlie in the pool drowning fighting whatever is pulling at him and Nick jumps in. He sees that it is Teresa pulling at Charlie. He wrestles his leg free and gets him to safety. Suddenly, Sara is possessed by Teresa. Inside, Nick tells Charlie to stay out of the pool and he tells that he was being pulled under. He tells him not to worry about it. In Sara and Nick’s room, Dana is there and Sara tells that she is going to be able to sleep with the noise machine. Dana tells that she was scared for Charlie and Sara tells that Dana loves Charlie. She tells that she loved her brother too and Dana tells that Sara doesn’t have a brother.

In the living room, Nick is on the phone with Peg and tells that he is putting the salt around the doorways and that Teresa is going after his family. Sara walks in and tells that salt won’t work. Nick realizes that his wife is not there but Teresa possessed her body. She points a gun at Nick and gets ready to fire the gun. Leigh enters and tells Teresa to put down the gun. Nick tells Leigh to holster the weapon and she does. Suddenly, Teresa shoots Leigh. Nick asks what she wants and Teresa tells that she wants to have him dead. They get to the grave of Teresa and he tells that he is sorry about killing her brother and he tells that her brother did horrible things. He apologizes to her and she leaves Sara’s body. Nick takes her home and Peg is there. She tells that everyone is sleeping soundly and Nick asks about Leigh’s condition. Leigh walks in with no wound at all. Nick is shocked but Leigh tells that she was wearing a vest. Sara wakes up scared and Nick tells that he is going to tell everything. He tells that Dylan is a vampire and tells everything.

Dylan and Claire sit down with Emily and they tell that they are different, but Emily tells that she already knows about the blood. She asks how old they are and Dylan tells that he was walking in London before cars were made and Claire tells that she is not that old. She is alright with the fact that they are Vampires. Nick walks into Devon’s shop and tells that he is not going need the tea. She tells that unless he come clean, “she” is never going to stop. He tells that he did come clean and leaves. Charlie meets with Andie and tells that when he was underwater having his breath taken away, he was thinking of Andie. She hugs him and she tells that they are going to make it work. He tells that he is going to get her steak for iron. At the house, Nick sits down with Sara and asks if she is alright. She tells that she is not. She tells that she doesn’t want to live there any more and tells that they are leaving “The Gates”.
