Nick investigates the death of the last Chief of Police, disturbed by what he's starting to discover about The Gates. Claire Radcliff deals with the repercussions from her recent transgression, fighting to put the past behind her. At school, Andie struggles to sort out her blossoming feelings for Charlie. And Brett works hard to keep dating Andie while fighting off Lukas' tempting offer to "come running,"
A series of mysterious robberies occurs around town; Brett tries to get his relationship with Andie back on track; Lukas encourages Brett to blow off some steam; Leigh loses an important package.
A missing hunter casts unwanted attention on Brett and the pack, creating tension with Coach Ross. As Dylan does some digging inside the vampire community, Nick questions those closest to Barbara. The victim's business partner, Gloria Bennett, has a few secrets she's been keeping. Meanwhile Frank Buckley shows a dirty little secret to Nick and Dylan.
After finding out that Buckley is trying to use the video to blackmail Nick and Dylan, they search out some dirt on Buckley to even the odds. They stumble upon a former owner whose accident seems to be a little bit more then a trip down the stairs. Meanwhile, Sara is trying to play the good neighbor and tries to invite Claire and Karen over for a pool party but when Devon arrives, things get a little wet. Devon puts her plan into action with a special piece to the puzzle.
When a predominate member of the werewolves is beaten up, it is a warpath for the Vampires who have been at war for a while. Nick, upon finding out that there are now Werewolves in "The Gates", must choose which side to believe or to completely neutral. Meanwhile, Claire confronts her friend Christian and is forced to let Dylan take matters into his own hands.
