Booty - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The scene opens a woman sunbathing when a couple comes up from the bottom deck. They hear a sound. They find a dead body floating in the water next to the boat. Meanwhile, Jim comes into the station and sees that Callie is there. She tells that Carlos is tutoring her for her new test. Lt. Manus comes in and says Johnny Hasker was found dead. She says that Johnny was famous of finding treasure from the Granada, a Spanish ship. He, his uncle and his cousin Hal made millions. Carlos and Jim arrive to the crime scene and find that Johnny has a weird dagger in his chest. They get on the yacht and Jim says that Johnny probably walked in on a robber trying to steal his Spanish coins and Jim also finds that all the GPS coordinates have been erased. Jim says that it was probably upsetting that they had to give 1/3 of the money to Spain and other places before getting his cut. Jim meets with Mark Ellison, Johnny’s business partner. He says that the restaurant is going down the drain and says that he had no reason to kill him. However, he says that Hal and Johnny had bad blood. Jim meets with Hal Hasker and Jack Hasker and Jack says that Johnny was a Hasker through and through despite being just a nephew.

They get into the office and Jack says that Johnny was the treasure hunter and that they were looking for the Magdalena when Johnny wanted to open up the restaurant. Jim says that this probably made Jack and Hal upset because of the fact that Johnny was the one who found the Granada to begin with. Hal tells that Johnny was nothing and Jack tells that he was a better person than Hal. Jim leaves the family feud and goes over to Callie’s and asks if he is missing something about treasure. Callie tells that it is about romance and that there are millions of dollars buried in the ground somewhere. She says that Jim’s 5 minutes are up and Jim asks how they could tell if they found the Magdalena. She says that they would have to have something from the ship’s manifest. Jim says that he has a hunch about the murder weapon. Carlos and Jim meet up and Carlos says that Johnny had bacteria on him. About the murder weapon, there is an engraving on the hilt. Jim guesses that it is the Francisco Family Crest. Carlos tells Jim that he never allows him to finish and Jim tells that he can continue. Johnny was killed by someone who knew that Johnny was close.

Jim goes back to Hal and asks why he lied to him about not knowing the knife that killed Johnny. Jack comes in and tells Hal not to say anything. He tells Jim that he was drunk last night and in no condition to answer to a police interrogation. He says that if word got word that the Magdalena was found, everyone would have been out there looking. Jack says that Johnny would have shared the money. Jim suspects that they are just waiting for the case to go cold before claiming the treasure. Jim gets a call that Dulcie Mendez, the lawyer from the Granada lawsuit, is at the station. He arrives and Lt. Manus says that Johnny called her three times the day he was killed. Jim walks into Dulcie and says that the dagger is in evidence. She says that she doesn’t know anything about the murder of Johnny and Jim says that she is a suspect. Dulcie says that Johnny called to make a deal. Jim pulls some hair off of Dulcie’s jacket and says that he will let her know if they find any treasure chests. Jim asks Manus if she has heard of the bar The Rusty Crab Pot. She tells that she doesn’t know. However, Johnny sold over all the restaurant and shares to Ellison and a month ago, Ellison gave Johnny $100,000.

Jim visits Ellison again and he says that he felt bad for Johnny. However, Jim is not convinced. Jim tells that Johnny showed Ellison the dagger and said that it was worth millions. Ellison says that Johnny found the debris field. He fronted him $100,000 to go do the dig. He says that he doesn’t have the money to go out on his own, but tries to point the finger to Jack and Hal Hasker. Jim tells that he already tried that. Meanwhile, Callie looks in the library for books on the Magdalena. She meets with Jim and says that that the dagger was not in the manifest and that someone smuggled it on board. Jim says that he is going to try to find the relationships with people and what they are going to do. She tells that she has to go and says that the books are out all week and thanks him for lunch. Jim gets to the station and Carlos says that someone coated the knife with the crest. The dagger is a forgery.

The next day, Jim goes to see Ellison again and he says that he is sorry about Johnny, but he is not the killer. Jim tells that the knife is fake and Ellison asks if the GPS coordinates are fake as well. Jim says that it is an interesting question coming from him. Jim sees a consulate car in Ellison’s driveway. Jim talks to Jack again and says that Jack wasn’t with his son all night the night Johnny was killed. Hal says that he went to look for the coordinates to the treasure, but nothing was there. Jim looks through the artifacts. Carlos says that the bug bites that Johnny had would have killed him anyways. Jim and Callie study the books again and Callie says that there are several places where that could be. Jim suggests that there was an inside man and that they lead to the destruction of the Magdalena. Callie shows that the people who checked out the books lately might have something to do with it. Jim goes to Ellison’s again and talks about Dulcie Mendez. He says that he never met the woman. Jim says that their was dog hair on Dulcie’s jacket and says that he is sleeping with her. Ellison asks if he is out of his mind. Meanwhile, Dulcie exits out the back door and the police arrest her.

Jim takes them to the station and talks about the Magdalena and the fact that they are in on it together and that they were trying to find out where Johnny found the Magdalena at. Ellison starts to scratch at an area and Jimmy says that he has what Johnny got. However, Ellison plays it off as something else. They are set free and Manus says that Johnny spent the $100,000 on land. Callie wakes up and realizes that she saw something in a book. She goes to Jim’s and says that there was no inside man because it was a woman. Magdalena was in love with the bad pirate. Jim gets an idea and they get into the evidence room and Jim shows that the helmet has something special about it. He puts a candle under it and the holes in the Spanish helmet are the constellations. They go out in the swamp and get lost a little. Callie gets mad at Jim and pushes him. They get a signal and find the treasure of the Magdalena. As they dig it up, they ponder on what they could do with the millions of dollars in gold and silver. However, Ellison and Mendez are there and they demand that they give up the treasure. Jim and Callie pretend to fight and Callie hits Mendez in the leg with the shovel and they get them down and arrest them. They return the money to the police and Callie tells Jim that she is going to ask Ray for a divorce because she wants to be with Jim. The episode ends.
