The Golden Girls: Old Friends

While relaxing on the beach boardwalk, Sophia befriends an elderly man named Alvin, whose increasingly odd behavior indicates that he has Alzheimer's disease. Meanwhile, Blanche accidentally gives away Rose's teddy bear, Fernando.

Episode Notes
Terry Hughes earned an Emmy nomation for Best Director for this episode in 1988.

Jenny Lewis, Daisy in this episode, would go on to appear alongside Craig T. Nelson and Shelley Long in the 1989 comedy film Troop Beverly Hills. She has since left acting, and is now a musician, known for being the lead singer of indie rock group Rilo Kiley from 1998-2011.

The series moved filming locations from Sunset Gower Studios to Ren-Mar Studios beginning with this episode.

Blanche: (about Daisy) She isn't a sweet kid anymore! She is holding Fernando for ransom!
