The Golden Girls: A Midwinter Night's Dream (1)

A full moon falls upon the household, and a leap year's full moon at that, leading Blanche to host a Moonlight Madness party at the house. True to its name, strange happenings abound: all the men are attracted to Dorothy while none are attracted to Blanche, Sophia believes a curse has been placed on Dorothy and goes through all the necessary steps to try and release her from it, and Rose wins a honeymoon vacation to Paris, France, leading Miles to propose.

Episode Notes
This episode aired as part of an NBC special leap day-themed block, with a cross-theme and crossovers with spin-offs Empty Nest and Nurses. Empty Nest aired the episode "Dr. Weston and Mr. Hyde", featuring Betty White as Rose Nylund. Meanwhile, Nurses aired the episode "Moon over Miami" featuring Rue McClanahan as Blanche Devereaux. To complete the cycle, Dinah Manoff appears in this episode as her Empty Nest character Carol Weston.

This first part originally aired along with the second as a full one-hour episode (and is seen as such on the official DVD set). In syndication, however, it is aired in two separate half-hour segments.
