The scene opens up with Dan Stark and Jack Bailey in a gun fight. Jack tells that they are going to stay right where they are until help arrives. However, Dan and Jack see explosives above their heads. There is an explosion. Flashback to one day earlier in the police evidence room, with Dan telling Jack that the evidence room used to be a nap room and the evidence room is the place where good evidence goes to die. Hodges asks how the filing is going. Liz Toyler’s mother, Helen, comes by and tells that her Cutlass was stolen. She tells her neighborhood is a safe one and Dan tells that he wants to make sure that he will do “everything” for her and to make sure that all the property is returned.

Outside the station Jack asks Dan if he returned all the evidence back and he tells that he did. Jack doesn’t think that this is going to be that big of a deal and Dan says that there is always some bad guy waiting to be caught and Jack will be ending up snuggled in the back seat with Liz listening to some Fog Hat. The scene changes to a man in a nice suit named Keith Williams. He is waiting and tells his brother Eric Williams, that they are going to make money. Eric tells that he doesn’t like the fact that they are selling weapons to the same people that killed their brother Russell. Keith tells that other Guatemalans killed Russell and not these ones. They load up the guns and their business is called “William Bros. Weapons Sales”. Keith shows the Guatemalans that the gun is nice and good and the leader tells that he doesn’t like when guns lock and that it takes 4 minutes to kill a man with a gun that jams. They tell that they front the guns with kitchen fixtures.
At Lakewood Bridge, Jack and Dan are investigating and Helen’s thinking it was the “crack people”. Liz arrives and tells that her mother cannot commandeer cops. Liz apologizes to Jack and he tells that teens probably stole the car. Helen asks if they have a “solid lead”. Jack tells that they do not until Dan pulls up a “solid lead” in the way of an Uzi. Flashback to 28 minutes earlier and Dan is putting the evidence away and sees an Uzi. He puts it in his coat pocket and later puts it in on the ground to recover it at Lakewood Bridge. Jack bags the gun and tells that there is going to get the prints off the gun. Dan tells that there are no prints on the gun. But Jack tells that technology has changed. At the forensics unit, they are waiting for results on the gun. The Lab Tec comes and tells that they have a print.
Keith and Eric are getting the weapons ready and Eric tells that they could make a lot of money selling kitchen fixtures. They go to the William’s Bros. and they tell that they need to talk to Russell. Keith tells that Russell is dead and Dan says that he will look around. Keith stops him and tells that they have nothing in the house. A car pulls up at the William’s home and sees the cops and takes off. Jack and Dan chase after the car and Jack tries to call for backup but the radio is unplugged. Dan tells that Lt. Ruiz thinks that Dan and Jack are still in the evidence room. Dan shoots out the tires of the car and Jack and Dan run after the man. Jack catches the man in the car and it is the Guatemalan’s nephew. Keith tries to call the Guatemalans and Eric tells that Russell might be alive and that he is going to find him.

In the interrogation room, Jack and Dan are interviewing the Guatemalan boy. But he is not talking. Lt. Ruiz enters and asks how the evidence room is. She tells Jack to turn over the case to the Organized Crime Task Unit and to leave it alone. Jack is working late typing up a report and Liz enters and brings Jack some casserole and desert that her mother made for him. She tells that Kyle is taking her out and thanks for taking the heat from helping out her mother. Williams meets with the Guatamalans and he tells Williams to kill the cops to prove that he has good “customer service”. He tells that the cops will be dead by tomorrow. Jack tells that he has a meeting with the tasks force but the secretary says that the meeting was canceled by Dan. Upset Jack talks to Dan and Dan tells that they have no need to talk to the Tasks Force. Dan got a lead of Russell’s ex-girlfriend and Dan tells that Jack needs to trust him. They meet with Sara Watkins and she tells that Russell is dead and that Russell would never be interested in stealing an ugly car like the Cutlass. Meanwhile the Cutlass is being driven by teenage girls and it passes by behind Jack, who is parked at Sara Watkins’s house. Jack tells that Russell Williams is dead and tells that he found the evidence bag under his seat. He wants to know why he took it and Dan tells that he saw a case that was cold and he simply heated it up.
Later in the Cutlass the girls that stole the car are kissing boys and get visited by Eric. He tells them to get out and he finds Helen Traynor’s insurance papers and address. Keith is outside the police station and gets a call from the Guatemalans and he tells that he is on it but has to wait until they get away from the police station. Jack meets with Liz privately and she agrees that she is going to help but doesn’t want to have her mom calling up hysterical. Jack tells that it has nothing to do with her mother now. Meanwhile, Eric enters Helen’s home and points a gun at her. At Oak Cliff Storage, Dan and Jack come up to a storage unit that Keith has been renting for years. They open it and find the weapons that he has been hiding. They also find the body of Russell Williams too. They ensue into a gun fight. It is Keith. The gun jams for a second and then he shoots the explosions that were in the storage unit. Eric calls Keith and tells that he has the lady with the Cutlass but no Russell. Keith tells Eric to kill Helen but he doesn’t want to do it. He asks about Dan and Jack and Keith tells Eric that they are taken care of. Flashback to 1 minute 2 seconds earlier, Jack and Dan jump into containers.
Lt. Ruiz wants to know why they decided to get on with the case instead of dropping off the case to the Task Force. Ruiz tells Jack that he is going to go back and write up a big report for the Task Force. Jack checks his messages and one message is Liz thanking them for returning the Cutlass. Flashback 31 seconds earlier and Liz is calling Jack and thanking him for returning the Cutlass. Halfway through her leaving the message, Eric points a gun at her head. Jack and Dan don’t like the fact that the Cutlass is back and believe there is something going on. They go to Helen’s home and see the Cutlass intact. They go to the front door and Keith answers it with a machine gun. Jack and Dan take cover behind the Cutlass and another gunfight ensues. Jack tries to talk to them and tells that they found Russell’s body. Jack throws the ring they pulled off Russell into the house. Eric picks it up and flashback to 4 years earlier where Keith and Russell are getting ready for the deal with the Guatemalans and Keith trips and accidently kills Russell. They start fighting with each other.

Jack sneaks around back and Dan tells that if anything happens to Jack, that Dan will take care of Liz and her mom. Jack has a newfound reason to stay alive. Jack sneaks around back and Eric knocks Keith over the head with a faucet. Jack unties Liz and Helen. Eric sees him and tells that Dan is out of ammo. Jack offers himself as a hostage but Eric has it covered. But Dan drives the Cutlass through the house and hits Eric with the car. The Guatemalans drive by and tell that they are going to take their business somewhere else after seeing the car through the house. The police arrest the William brothers and Lt. Ruiz calls it a win for the department and tells that Dan is never allowed near her evidence room again. Jack apologizes to Liz for all that happened and she tells that he was sweet inside there. Jack gets lightheaded and passes out. When he comes too, he is on Liz’s lap and, just like Dan said, Jack ended up snuggled in the back seat listening to some Fog Hat courtesy of Dan Stark.
