Common Enemies - Recap

The scene opens at 1 PM at the Tower Club Air Shaft with a Code 12 in progress. Jack Bailey and Dan Stark crawling in a tight area and Dan gets stuck. Jack asks if he can shimmy out and Dan tells that he can’t. Suddenly, Jack falls through the attic. The scene flashbacks to one day earlier where Jack and Dan are in Lt. Ruiz’s office and she is going to give them Case #4741 The Tech Bandit. Jack is enthusiastic about it. Ruiz tells that it is a priority. Dan wants to know who the “Tech Bandit” is. Jack tells that he is a smart tech thief that breaks in and no one knows how. Ruiz tells that they are going to be working with a forensics expert from Houston to get this person quicker. Dan tells that he doesn’t “assist” and tells that they should be out there by themselves and without him. Ruiz tells that they don’t have a choice. Dan and Jack meet Alfonso Laviolette and he has a college student with him along with a camera to videotape a documentary. He tells that they are going to be assisting him and that Jack needs to carry his evidence kit.

At Nygen Technologies, Alfonso, Dan, and Jack arrive to look at a place where the Tech Bandit was and Alfonso finds what looks to be blood. He tells Jack to get his evidence kit and tells him to send the evidence to the lab and to give him a salad with a half of a beagle. Jack snaps at him and tells that he is a detective and not a errand boy. At the station, Lt. Ruiz gets Liz to meet with a prostitute that she brought in. Liz finds out that Zoe, the prostitute, has more to say and tells that Senator Buddy Haverton is her main client that pays big. Lt. Ruiz tells Zoe to tell where the Senator gets the money. The scene flashbacks to one week earlier on date night where Zoe and the Senator are in the back of a limo and he is making a deal with a mobster named Leo about dropping toxic waste near a children’s hospital. Zoe seems to be oblivious to the conversation and the Senator tells Leo that he has control and that he will think about it. Lt. Ruiz and Liz walk out of the room and Ruiz tells that Zoe will testify if the charges are dropped. Liz agrees. Jack and Dan get out of the car at a Barbeque Bar and Jack tells that Alfonso is an egotistic maniac and Jack wants to know why Dan brought them to a barbeque joint. Dan tells that he did some “detective work” of his own. The scene flash backs to 1.5 hours earlier on the top of the building, where Dan tastes the “blood”. Dan tells that it wasn’t blood, but barbeque sauce from the barbeque bar that they are now. Dan tells that they have a camera and that the “Tech Bandit” at there between 11 AM-1 PM. Jack asks the bartender for their security tapes.

Jack and Dan arrive back at the station and find Alfonso in Jack’s desk sitting looking smug. Dan lifts him up and insults his ego and tells that he is to never sit in a man’s desk if it is not his own. Alfonso tells that in 4 hours, they are going to know who the “Tech Bandit” is. Jack and Dan laugh and tell that they took the initiative and got a picture of him. Lt. Ruiz tells Dan to get to her office. Jack bumps into Liz and tells that she has been hanging around the office a lot and she tells that she is working on a case with Ruiz. Alfonso comes over and tells that he is going to need the FBI’s Forensics team to enhance the image. Later at the Lab, Jack and an impatient Dan are waiting in the lobby and the college student asks if he could interview them on their thoughts of how it is working with Alfonso. Jack refuses, but Dan welcomes it. He tells that he doesn’t follow the rules like Alfonso does and performs “real” police work. Jack is in the background correcting everything Dan says. Dan tells Jack that he is not going to babysit anymore and is going to catch the “Tech Bandit” himself. Jack goes with him because he feels the same way. Meanwhile, Lt. Ruiz and Liz are strapping Zoe up with a wire and she tells that it is showing. But, Lt. Ruiz and Liz tell that it is fine. Zoe goes to visit Buddy and she is trying to get him to say that he is going to pay for sex. But he dodges it. Suddenly Leo and an “associate” come in the backyard and put a gun to Zoe and tell her to get lost. Leo has his associate tackle Buddy and tells that he makes the rules and that he is going to dump his waste wherever he wants. Zoe tells Ruiz and Liz that she is not doing that again.

At the station, the college kid is videotaping Dan in action and Dan is stuffing his face with doughnuts. He walks over to Jack who is looking at the surveillance video and notices that the “Tech Bandit” is taking a bite, and then taking a picture. Jack finds out that the “Tech Bandit” is a blogger and then finds his blog. They get his next location and start to leave. The college kid asks if they could do the exit again and Jack tells that they are not there to make a movie and leaves. Dan gives the college kid the shot and exits in style. Jack and Dan go to the hotel restaurant at the Cresent Hotel, the hotel that the “Finer Diner” aka, the “Tech Bandit” could be staying at and they get the name Roland Van Hoff staying at the hotel. They go down to the lobby to get a plan when suddenly, Alfonso shows up with a SWAT team. He tells that they will sit there while he makes the arrest and there is nothing they could do about it. Meanwhile, Ruiz is trying to talk to Zoe and she tells that she is not going to do anything for them. Liz reminds her that she will go to prison and she calls Liz roots and takes a picture of her. Liz is upset with Zoe calling her blond hair fake and Ruiz takes Liz out of the room and tells that they will just have an undercover do it.

Back outside of the hotel, Jack is upset about the whole thing that Alfonso is doing. Inside, Alfonso and the SWAT enter the room but there is no Roland. The scene flashbacks to two minutes earlier and Roland answers the phone. It is the turn down service call and catches the suspicious phone call for not being later. He sneaks out and climbs down. Jack and Dan are outside talking about records and they see Roland drive off in a car. They chase him down and catch up to him and arrest him. He tells that they did well and is happy to be arrested by them instead of Alfonso. He confesses that he steals Technology to pay for his habit as a blogger. Ruiz takes Liz in her office and tells that Zoe sent the picture she took of her to Buddy and told him that Liz was coming. Ruiz tells that they could find someone else but Buddy requested her. Liz reluctantly agrees. In the station, Alfonso comes up to Jack and Dan and tells that it is horrible and that it was supposed to be his arrest. They tell that the Chief is not going to care, but are interrupted when Liz walks in her prostitute outfit. She drops her purse and everyone freezes. Jack kneels down and picks it up for her and tells that he can’t stand up.

At the Tower Club, Liz meets with Buddy and he tells that he wants to have sex and Ruiz walks in with her team and attempt to arrest him, but he pistol whips Ruiz and points the gun at Liz and tells that he will kill them both. At the station, Hodges tells of the situation and Jack and Dan tell each other that Ruiz and Liz are dead. Ronald tells that there is always a way in. They get him out and arrive at the Tower Club. Jack tells if Roland starts to run, Dan will shoot him. The college kid tries to film and Dan and Jack tell him not to. He asks what he is going to do since Alfonso is a joke. Jack tells that he doesn’t care. News crews arrive and Leo, from a hotel, calls his associate and tells that the investigation is not going to go forward. Jack and Dan are outside and Roland tells that they found their way in. Jack tells Dan that he has to save his girl that he has slept with and admits that he slept with Ruiz twice. They hear a gunshot and glass falls on top of them. The scene flash backs 30 seconds earlier and Buddy is yelling at no one. An officer sneaks in and tells him to freeze. Buddy shoots and then to another officer and then to the window.

Hodges and his team enter the scene and Hodges tries to negotiate and he is not listening. Meanwhile, Jack, Dan, and Roland sneak in the air shaft and Jack handcuffs Roland to a loose pipe by accident and they go inside. Dan tells that he is stuck and Jack falls through the ceiling. He is shot at and takes cover. Jack throws forks at Buddy to distract him and Ruiz and Liz get free. Liz is grabbed by Buddy and Dan falls on top of him. They arrest him and Ruiz punches Buddy. At the station, Alfonso is upset that Roland escaped and tells that the Chief will hear of it. Lt. Ruiz tells that Jack and Dan did a good job and that it was because of Roland that they were able to save Liz and Ruiz. Alfonso wonders where Roland could be now. Meanwhile, somewhere in Southeastern USA, Roland is driving and he is being videotaped by the college student who originally wanted to videotape Alfonso and Roland tells of his plans. Back at the station Alfonso is outraged and Ruiz tells him to get out. Ruiz asks Dan where they go to get some good ribs and Ruiz, Liz, Dan and Jack go out together to get some. Liz tells that she needs to change out of her prostitute outfit and Jack tells that she looks stunning in it and Dan takes Ruiz to the side and tells that he told Jack of the times that he and her had sex. She is shocked, but Dan tells that he didn’t show him the tape though.
