Dan on the Run - Recap

The scene opens in Downtown, Dallas with a Code 28 in progress. Dan is about shave off the mustache. The scene flashbacks to one day earlier and Dan and Jack investigate a break-in in a locksmith’s shop. Dan is upset that the man allowed for the crooks to get keys to every house in the city because of the lock picking tool that they stole. Dan is a little anxious because he has a meeting with Andy Davis, the ex-governor’s son that he and Frank saved so many years ago. Later that night, Dan meets with Andy Davis and he tries to flirt with some girls and introduces Andy, who is less than attractive, and tells that he saved his life years ago. They are not interested at all. Andy thanks Dan and gives him a hug. He signals to the bartender to put some drugs into Dan’s beer. The scene flashbacks to 6 hours earlier, Andy meets with Brody and Parker at a motel. They have arranged that Andy will get a cooler full of marijuana if he helps to take Dan down. At the bar Dan drinks up the tainted beer. At the station the next morning, they find out that Andy has been kidnapped again and Dan is the suspect.

Jack calls Dan up and tells him that Andy was kidnapped and Dan wakes up from his drugged up state. Jack tells Dan that his finger prints are all over the ransom note. The scene flashbacks to 11 Hours earlier, Brody and Parker have the locksmith tool that they stole from the locksmith shop and get inside Dan’s trailer. They put Andy’s blood on the note. Dan tells Jack that he has been set up and that he was sedated. Jack tells him to come to the station and he tells that he is going to handle it on his own. Dan goes to a laundry mat and the news is on and shows a picture of Dan. A woman at the laundry mat spots him and calls the police. At briefing, Hodges is leading and tells that Dan was spotted and starts insulting him. Jack takes offense and Lt. Ruiz takes him to her office. She tells Jack that she knows Dan did not kidnap Andy and that she needs to pursue this with full force. She adds that if Jack’s investigation into the locksmith case leads him on different paths, then she can’t stop him. Dan is in a bathroom about to shave off his mustache and Jack comes in. It is his apartment. Jack hears the noise and both cops scare each other. Dan tells that he needs help. Suddenly there is a knock on the door and it is Liz. She gives the original files of Andy’s arrests that the governor tried to cover up and asks to come in. But Jack tells that he has a date. Dan speaks in a female’s voice and Liz recognizes it to be Dan, but when they get to the bathroom, Dan had already escaped through the window.

Dan calls Jack and tells him that he is in the home of someone he can trust and there is not going to be any problems. The next day, goes to the home of a know drug dealer who was arrested for seeing marijuana to Andy nine months ago. He talks after Jack tells that he’ll take his marijuana with him to the station and get a warrant. The dealer tells that Andy came to him but he sent him to some other drug dealers. Brody and Parker are at the Hillview Motel and they see Jack going to hotel rooms after hotel room. Andy panics and shoots Dan’s gun and hits Jack in the shoulder and they take off. Meanwhile, Dan is woken up by a man hitting him with a golf club. He gets up and it is Frank Savage, Dan’s ex-partner. Dan hugs him and Dan tells of his situation. They go to Frank’s old things and Dan is disgusted that Frank has hidden all of this things. However, Cynthia, Frank’s wife, is there too and she tells Dan to get out or she is calling the cops. Back at the station, Jack reports the shooting and meets with the Commissioner. He tells that the gun that shot him was Dan’s gun and if Jack wants to be able to move up anytime soon, he needs the high profile arrest. Liz meets with Jack and tells that having Dan arrested would be bad because of the six cases that would be cleared. Jack has found the motive and asks for the details of the arrest reports. Meanwhile, Andy is taken to a room and thrown inside. Brody and Parker block the door. Frank and Dan are still talking about the good days and Frank tells that his therapist said it is good to lock away things of his past. Back in the room where Andy is, he is winning about him being in the room. Brody and Parker have the idea that Andy could get killed with Dan’s gun.

Dan is about to say goodbye and tells that if Frank really gave up everything, then why does he still have the mustache. Seeing that Cynthia already called the cops, Dan takes Frank hostage and Hodges is dumfounded and Dan and Frank escapes. In the car they laugh because the “Take your partner hostage” trick worked. Frank puts on the sunglasses and holds his gun. He is back! Liz brings in the files and they find out that one case of Brody and Parker is in there. Those are the guys that shot Jack. The news comes on and they find out that Dan kidnapped Frank, but Jack sees this as the classic “Take your partner hostage” trick. Liz asks where Dan and Frank could be. Dan and Frank walk into the bar where the bartender gave Dan the drug. He tells that he is not talking. Franks starts destroying the bar and the bartender tells that Brody and Parker are drug dealers that give him marijuana for his migraines. They hear sirens and they run out to find that Jack’s car is there and they escape. Back in the room, Brody and Parker go in to kill Andy, but he is gone. Flashback two minutes earlier and Andy is kicking in an air vent to escape. Jack tells that Dan had found out that Brody and Parker were using tunnels underneath the Cotton Bowl as their place to grow the marijuana and that is where they have Andy possible. Meanwhile, Andy is running around and realizes that he is in the Cotton Bowl.

Jack, Frank, and Dan arrive at the Cotton Bowl and Frank shoots the lock to get in. They find Andy’s keychain that Dan gave him at the bar and Dan knows that he is there. They run out onto the field and realize that Andy is in the press box. Brody and Parker see him too. Dan tells Andy to go to the roof and tells Frank “Everest”. Jack tells that he is doing it and Jack tells that he knows of the story behind the meaning of the word. This includes Jack needing to climb to the top of the roof from the back. As Jack climbs, Dan and Frank catch up to Andy but they are held at gun point by Brody and Parker. They want a helicopter and Dan and Frank stall long enough to wait for Jack to jump on top of Brody and Parker. A fist fight ensues and Dan and Frank take down Brody and Jack takes down Parker. Andy runs off and trips. He is dangling off the window and the officers and Frank pull him to safety through the press box. They take Andy and he is reunited with his family. Lt. Ruiz comes up and tells that the lock pick found matched what was stolen. Frank tells Lt. Ruiz that she is still smoking hot and tells Dan that he likes his retired life and that Dan is in safe hands with Jack. Frank kisses Cynthia and tells that everything is fine. Dan and Jack are partners still and they go and bust some more punks.
