Supercops - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The episode begins in downtown Dallas where Dan and Jack are chasing an armed suspect who barricades himself inside a building with a steel door. Dan decides the only way to pursue the bad guy is to grease his body so that he can enter through a small panel on the door. As Jack is helping Dan apply motor oil to his upper torso, the Dallas Strike Force arrives and proceeds to knock the door down and arrest the suspect. Dan is furious with the Strike Force commander for horning in on their case. Back at the precinct, Lt. Ruiz tells Jack he needs to control his partner, and advises him that his application to join the Strike Force that was submitted months ago has been considered and they want to interview him for a position. Jack decides not to tell Dan about the interview since Dan doesn't consider them real cops.

Samantha comes in and tells them she has found the stolen truck from the case they were working on the previous week. The truck has crashed into the wall of a middle eastern restaurant. When they arrive on the scene and talk with the owner, he assures them that nothing was stolen. Jack thinks it is simply a car thief that crashed the truck and ran off. Dan thinks there is more to the case, and the flashback proves he is right. Eight hours earlier, two men who stole the truck use the truck as a battering ram to enter the restaurant and steal the safe. As Jack is finishing up the paperwork with the restaurant owner, Dan is waiting in his car when Jack's phone rings. Dan answers it and learns about the Strike Force interview. Dan is furious and drives away, leaving Jack to walk back to the precinct.

The two thieves open the safe and discover diamonds instead of cash and realize they are way in over their head. Back at the restaurant, the owner is confronted by Asher, the very scary man who stole the diamonds and is responsible for transporting them to Israel. The owner assures the thief that he will get the diamonds back. At the precinct, Jack is talking about his opportunity with the Strike Force with Liz, expressing his guilt. At the same time, Dan talks it over with Julius. Dan asks Julius to report back with any information on anyone trying to move any stolen goods, in an effort to prove to Jack that they have a real case. Later, Samantha reports that she found a fingerprint and the names and addresses of some suspects in the truck theft. Dan interrupts Jack's interview with Capt. Shaw of the Strike Force and they leave to checkout the lead.

When they arrive at one of the suspects' home, they find evidence of a shootout. The flashback shows that the restaurant owner and Asher had been there earlier and had failed to catch the thieves. Jack notices the safe and the remnants of some wallpaper attached to it and realize it looks the same as the wallpaper in the restaurant. Jack and Dan return to the restaurant where the owner and Asher deny everything, but Jack notices the owner's ripped pants and blood. However, they have no evidence. Dan and Jack go see Julius and he reveals some information about stolen diamonds, which leads them to Dave's Diamond Depot. They have no evidence but are suspicious of the owner. The flashback proves them right, revealing that the thieves had been there earlier and sold the diamonds to Dave for $4000.

The hapless thieves arrive at the home of the second thief, only to find the restaurant owner and Asher waiting for them. At the precinct, Jack is about to begin another interview with the Strike Force when he realizes that he needs to help Dan solve the case. Jack gets a warrant for Dave's Diamond Depot and when they arrive, they find Dave with blood all over his face and head. The flashback shows that Asher had been there just a few minutes earlier to retrieve his diamonds and was just about to kill Dave. Dave's information leads them back to the restaurant. At the restaurant, Jack and Dan enter quietly to find no customers. They hear some moaning and discover the two thieves tied up in a storeroom.

A shootout erupts and the steel door to the storeroom closes, sealing them inside. The only way out is through a small vent, but the second thief is a bit overweight. Jack finds some lard and they grease him up and they all escape the storeroom. Just then, the Strike Force arrives and blast their way into the restaurant and arrest Asher and the restaurant owner, getting all the credit for the arrest of the diamond thieves. Dan and Jack settle for the arrest of the car thieves.
