When his father walks out on his mother and himself, bespectacled, nerdy Will McKenzie is forced to leave his private school and enroll at the local comprehensive, where his accent and appearance make him an easy target for the school psycho. Seeking to make friends with 'normal' boys he pals up with Jay, Neil and Simon, but none of them are exactly winners, as is evidenced when they try to buy alcohol in a pub.
Simon, Neil, Jay and Will bunk off school and get drunk at Neil's house. However, Neil's Dad interupts them and is offended when Will calls him a "bumder"!
Simon is sitting his first driving test and Will, Jay and Neil look forward to be able to get lifts to school and get "all the gash" once they have a car, but the problem is; Simon is a rubbish driver. However, he miraculously passes!
Will pulls Charlotte Hinchcliffe. However, he becomes so obsessed with her that he ditches his friends.
The boys go to the caravan club to get "some pussy". However, not everything goes according to plan.
It's the end of term and Will, Jay, Simon and Neil plan the School Prom. Will tries his best and it turns out to be a success.

The new term starts and Carli is trying to organise a charity fashion show. Only the best looking and coolest kids though are invited to take part in it. The boys aren't asked to be involved until the last minute when a desperate Carli needs their help. Them helping though ends up proving to be a bigger hindrance than anyone could have thought.
Simon wants to date a girl in the year below and to try and impress her, he goes to his first gig since his mum took him to see Take That at Wembley Arena. Will, Jay and Neil end up going as well which spoils Simon's chances.
Simon and his new girlfriend Tara go on a double date with Will and her friend Kerry. Simon ends up having his principles put to the test. Will has to balance up spending some time with a boring girl for the prospect of getting doem real action.

When Will's mother goes away for the weekend with an old schoolfriend he ends up being left home alone a so he decides to take advantage of the situation. When he wakes up though in the morning he discovers an unpleasant surprise.
Will attempts to organise one last adventure for the group before they end up going their separate ways. The four of them head off for a camping trip in the countryside. Will finds himself drawing on his scout training for the experience whilst Jay, Neil and Simon are not prepared for the great outdoors.
