The Job

The Job

The Job follows a group of New York police detectives as they solve odd crimes and deal with their personal problems. This is a single-camera show, shot completely on location in New York City. Denis Leary stars as Detective Mike McNeil, who is a great cop but has issues with women, booze, and drugs. He has to balance his wife, girlfriend, and occasional affairs while drinking and finding other ways to self-medicate. The rest of the staff is equally dysfunctional, but somehow they still manage to solve a few hilarious crimes.

It was funny WITHOUT the laugh track you expect with a comedy - The Job scrapped the laugh track before it was trendy for sitcoms to do so. Read more
