To prove to Karen that he doesn't actually have a drinking problem, McNeil swears to her that he'll quit drinking. While he doesn't buy any booze, he does start downing record amounts of cough syrup and taking some erectile dysfunction medications. Meanwhile, the gang is supposed to bust a group of weed users, but when they actually see the people involved and learn why the group is smoking pot, they no longer want to bust them.

| This is the second time McNeil tries to give up booze. The first was in the season one episode, "Anger." |

| McNeil: What're those? (points to pills in Frank's hand)
Frank: Oh, these? Huh ho... these saved my marriage.
McNeil: Really?
Frank: Yeah, a couple of months ago. Just between us.... I was havin' a little trouble in the bedroom, 'stepping up to bat' as it were. But with these things, it's like I'm swinging a sequoia! | McNeil: (talking to Frank on the phone) That new, uh, pill. How long does it last? Ball park figure?
Frank: Well, they said possibly up to eight hours.
McNeil: (whispering) Oh my God.
Frank: But nobody knows for sure, could last longer.
McNeil: Is there any way they can... call it off?
Frank: Well, you can always take matters 'into your own hands.'
McNeil: Did that already. Four times. |

| Visual: Middleton Irish Whiskey
Middleton's is called a "very rare" Irish Whiskey. It is known for its process of being passed through the still 3 times (causing a higher alcohol level) then blended and aged for a minimum of five years in used sherry casks. | McNeil: The only piece that don't fit is the old broad. Otherwise it's like the Jerry Garcia fan club.
Jerry Garcia was the singer for the musical group, The Grateful Dead. They are known for their long psychedelic jams and frequent drug use. McNeil is indicating that the suspects, other than the old lady, are most likely druggies. |
