Bettie decides to let her father stay with her for the final days. Alice is overflowed with jalousie when Dana planned a dinner with an ex. Jenny flirts dangerously while she brings up old memories.
Tina's baby is just about to be born, Shane and Carmen are rekindling their relationship. Alice asks Dana to move in and Jenny's going crazy, remembering things about her past that should best be left alone.
The third season opens with Bette and Tina trying to rekindle their sexual groove after having a child. Road rage grabs hold of Alice as she chases after Dana through the streets of Los Angeles, Helena purchases a movie studio, and Jenny leaves the mid-west and heads back out to LA.
Kit hires Billie Blaikie - "the best party promoter in town" - to pump up business at the Planet. Jenny and Moira experience gay-bashing while en route to California, Shane gets a girly makeover from Carmen's mother, and Bette and Tina try to find a man to act as a masculine influence to impress an adoption case worker.
Helena offers Tina a job at the movie studio. Bette and Tina hire a "manny": a male nanny to whom Kit takes a liking. Dana gets a mammogram, and Jenny returns to L.A. with her friend Moira, who feels like a fish out of water among Jenny's old pals.
Jenny is a wreck when Moira doesn't come home one night, and Bette goes to Washington to speak before the Senate, where she meets a powerful lawmaker. DJ Carmen spins for Russell Simmons, Dana is interviewed by Billie Jean King at a tennis match, Kit reconsiders her decision to let Billie run the Planet, and Helena develops feelings for a straight documentarian.
Tina develops an attraction to men, Bette tries Buddhism and gets good news on the work front. Whilst speed-dating, Alice meets a lesbian vampire and Kit is serenaded by 'Mangus'. Dana gets bad news on the health front, Helena woos a documentary filmmaker, Moira goes out as a man and Shane's ex drops in.
A publisher wants Jenny to turn her fictional novel into a tell-all memoir, Alice becomes more enamored of Uta - the vampire, Carmen confronts Shane about her affair with Cherie, Billie helps Moira/Max score an illegal prescription for male hormones, Dylan sends Helena mixed signals, and the girls learn the truth about Dana's condition.
