^loved how Jane got 'justice' but thought RJ was going to kill the baddie in the manner of the baddies MO, thus keeping RJ "hey guys, I'm not dead afterall"ness a secret awhile longer. Now RJ was revealed himself a member of the not-killed-by-Jane posse I wonder what the ramifications to Jane will be since RJ-killer has now been struck of his CV.

Great episode. Loved Jane manipulating Red John in a certain sense. Don't think it will have any ramifications for Jane, once you're found innocent you can't be tried for the same crime.

^ but what about his coworkers and the general public - now knowing RJ wasn't the one he killed they'll soon realise Jane got it wrong... da da daaaaaaaa. His credibility goes out the window and his put out on t' streets selling tricks for dime balls of coke.

I am curious about the title of this episode, "Blinking Red Light". I know Jane was staring at the blinking red light on the top of the camera in the studio, but is there some other reference to Red John that has been revealed in the past?

True, but I'm not sure how much Jane really cares about his public credibility. Also, he's solved about 200 cases and is generally known as a "case closer", plus the guy he killed was proven to be a psycho. Annd, people might think this is one of Red John's men copy-catting his style and not the actual Red John.

And no, as far as I'm aware there's nothing in the past about a Blinking Red Light. Most episode titles involve red somehow, but I don't think most of them are actually relevant in a deep way.

Did anybody see the movie Bernie? My wife and I watched it yesterday and it reminded me of this episode of The Mentalist. Bad guy gets killed, good guy did it, but everybody thinks the good guy should get away with it.

yup saw Bernie also a few days ago...had to go and research it and read all the hype...interesting story
