It's raining in Newport, and the rain begins to have its affect on the O.C. Marissa tells Julie about her relationship with Alex, then informs Julie that she's moving in with Alex. Summer gets ready for her trip to Italy with Zach, but she has a hard time forgetting about Seth. After persuasion from Ryan, Lindsay agrees to take the paternity test and everyone awaits the results. Meanwhile, after the highway is closed due to rain, Sandy and Rebecca are stranded together in a motel.
Before this episode aired, FOX cut a kiss between Marissa and Alex. The scene appears on the season 2 DVD.
This is the last appearance of Shannon Lucio (Lindsay) and Kim Delaney (Rebecca).
We learn that Julie, like Marissa had a lesbian "phase" when she was a teen.
Ryan: So I come in right below pizza. That's good to know.
Lindsay: Yeah, well. A girl's gotta eat.
Seth: Think we should stick together? Kinda two-by-two like Noah did? He's very wise, Ryan. He had a beard.
Seth: Spiderman is really the only protective headgear I own.
Summer: Well, it's too bad you weren't wearing protective headgear when you were dropped on your head as a child.
Seth: Oh, zing!
Seth: Eureka, Ryan! I can't believe I just said Eureka. That's it!
Ryan: What's it?
Seth: The way to win her back. The grand romantic gesture that's gonna put Zachary's Euro-Trip to shame. I shall take her on a sailing adventure aboard the Summer Breeze.
Ryan: Except you sold the boat for bus fare.
Seth: I did. Dammit. Eureka, Ryan! I shall buy back the Summer Breeze! Yes.
Ryan: Uh huh. Except with what money?
Seth: Okay, if I wanted my parade rained on, I would just step outside. Let me ask you, man. Do you like the shape of the idea, even.
Seth: Okay great. So all I need is money. Hang on. Yes, got the answer. But before I say Eureka again, do you see any other potential flaws or holes in my plan?
Seth: Then Eureka, Ryan! Eu-friggin-reka!
Julie: Look, Marissa, I'll admit it. I experimented a bit when I was your age. Albeit it involved a little Motley Crue and a lot of Jager.
Marissa: Woah, Mom. Way too much information.
Summer: I can't go. I can't do this.
Zach: Truth be told, I didn't think you'd make it past security.
Summer: I'm really sorry.
Zach: You can't fight fate.
Ryan: You're talking to a boat, Seth.
Seth: Yeah, I talk to a plastic horse, too, but that never worries anyone.
Seth: Marissa and Alex are no longer welcome in the Red states.
When Summer is on the phone with Seth, the phone switches from ontop of her hair to under her hair between shots.
The number Summer has for Seth on her cell phone has a 714 area code. However, the area code for Newport Beach 949.
