While waiting the arrival of Carter, the new editor for Newport Living, Julie is distracted when a man from her past resurfaces. Summer: Which is why it's a good thing we're like the Marines.
Seth: How are we like the Marines?
Summer: We leave no man behind. Look, Lindsay may have turned her back on Ryan, but we won't. No. You have got to cheer him up. Semper Fi.

At the diner, Marissa asks Ryan "Who are you?". Ryan responds by saying "Whoever you want me to be" with a french fry hanging out of his mouth. This is the same as a scene in the "Pilot" episode when Ryan meets Marissa for the first time, but instead of a french fry, he had cigarette in his mouth.
