Episode Quotes

Dwight: No, don't call me a hero. Do you know who the real heroes are? The guys, who wake up every morning, and go into their normal jobs, and get a distress call from the commissioner, and take off their glasses and change into capes and fly around fighting crime. Those are the real heroes.

Toby: This may be the first time that a male subordinate has attempted to get a modest, scheduled raise by threatening to withhold sex from a female superior. It will be a groundbreaking case when it inevitably goes to trial.

Toby: I don't think Michael intended to punish me by putting Ryan back here with Kelly. But, if he did intend that, wow. Genius.

Creed: I remember it was very late at night, like eleven, eleven-thirty. Big fella comes in, screaming about God knows what. I think maybe Halpert had stolen his car, something like that. So the big fella pulls out a sock filled with nickels, then Schrute, grabs a can of hairspray and a lighter-
Angela: You're useless.

Andy: I graduated from anger management the same way I graduated from Cornell. On time. Now I'm back, got a second chance and I'm not gonna blow it. So look out Dunder Mifflin!! (Pause) I mean look out in a fun way, you know, not like I'm gonna hurt you.

Episode Goofs

The pepper-spray manages to get Jim, Pam and Dwight partially, but doesn't seem to affect Karen, despite being right next to Jim.

When Darryl, Michael and Toby are diving in the car, the background changes frequently from being on a bridge to a neighborhood and to a city area. It's clear that the scene was done over a long drive.

Cultural References

Dwight: I am not a hero. I am a mere defender of the office. You know who's a real hero? Hiro, from Heroes. That’s a hero. Also Bono.

This is a reference to fellow NBC show Heroes, which features a character named Hiro, a computer programmer in Japan who has the ability to manipulate space and time. Hiro is played by actor Masi Oka. Dwight also mentions U2 lead singer, Bono.

Kelly: What is so stupid about wanting to name a baby Usher? Usher Jennifer Hudson Kapoor.

Kelly seems to want to name her child after R&B singer, Usher Raymond, and American Idol contestant (and Dreamgirls star) Jennifer Hudson.

Michael: (to Jan) Were you going to tell me that you hired James Van Der Beek?

Michael compares Jan's new assistant to actor James Van Der Beek, best known for his role on the show, Dawson's Creek.

Episode References

Michael: And today, both Darryl and I took something - higher salaries. Win-Win-Win.

"Win-Win-Win" refers back to the Season Two episode "Conflict Resolution" as one of the possible negotiation outcomes from "A Mediator's Tool Chest." Win-Win-Win means both sides win as well as the mediator for successfully mediating the conflict.

Roy: I’m so sorry, Pammy.

Pam mentioned in the previous episode, "Cocktails," that she doesn't want to be called "Pammy."
