I love this show to death, mainly because each of the characters reminds me of someone at my own office. In every office there’s always the older guy who’s been there forever, yet no one knows exactly what he does; the mother-figure always bringing in baked goods; the uptight one who always looks angry at everything; the student temp; someone who’s always a little hung over from the night before; the quirky boss with odd motivational techniques; the secret inter-office romance that everyone knows about but acts oblivious to; and the Dwight. Every office has that one person with the off-beat comments, the constant sucking up, and the behavior that makes everyone’s life miserable.

The series portrays each of these personalities so accurate that it’s easy to forget it’s a scripted show, not a reality series. The set that’s used for the series is perfect too – the fluorescent lighting that does no one justice, the little desk areas, the break room – it all makes me feel right at work.

It’s hard to explain how this show makes you think about different topics, but every episode has a bigger story to it, despite Michael’s very politically incorrect and/or sexist and/or racist comments he makes every episode. But despite his off-color comments, you can’t help but love him. Through it all he truly tries to be a good boss and truly cares about his employees … maybe a bit too much at times.

And who doesn’t love the Pam-Jim scenes? You can’t help but root for those little lovebirds.

If you haven’t seen The Office, check it out. There’s no doubt it’s the best half-hour of comedy on TV.
