Klaus returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans, a place where he helped build centuries ago. Now he sees that it has been taken over by his former protege Marcel. Camille, a psychology student, doesn't believe in supernatural beings. However, she finds herself drawn to Klaus. Meanwhile, Hayley and Elijah wait to see what Klaus will do next.
Elijah: (opening voiceover) Over the course of my long life, I have come to believe that we are bound forever to those with whom we share blood. And while we may not choose our family, that bond can be our greatest strength...or our deepest regret. This unfortunate truth has haunted me for as long as I can recall.
Marcel: I assume it's all quiet out there.
Davina: The witches know better than to use magic. They know that I can sense it when they do. What about the Old Ones? They're dangerous and I don't want them to hurt you.
Marcel: The Originals? Davina, as powerful as you are, they don't stand a chance.
Camille: So what brings you to the Big Easy?
Elijah: I used to live here.
Camille: Really? When?
Elijah: Oh, it feels like a hundred years ago.
Camille: I just moved here myself. What brought you back?
Elijah: Well, my brother's here somewhere. I'm afraid he might have gotten himself into a bit of a bind.
Camille: You say that like it's a common occurrence.
Elijah: Well, he's complicated...defiant, ill-mannered, a little temperamental.
Always and Forever
'Always and Forever' is the title of a song by American music artists Heatwave
Lucky Charms: When Marcel is telling Sophie why he killed her sister, he said that it is because she "was cooking up something magically delicious."
"It's magically delicious!" is the slogan used by a magical leprechaun in the advertisements for the children's cereal 'Lucky Charms.'
