Ben Kohler, critically wounded in a robbery, receives an experimental brain implant - a microchip that can regulate his body functions and compensate for damaged tissue. But then he starts to see violent crimes as if through someone else's eyes. And that person seems able to look back into Kohler's mind! Pioneering surgeon Dr. Martinez, who built the chip, cannot offer an explanation. But Kohler must find one before he becomes just like the person whose horrible crimes he sees.
