Patrick Tarloff is an English professor working for a prestigious American university. In spite of his handicap he is recognized as an excellent academic. Indeed, he became blind because of an intervening accident when he was child. But Tarloff hopes that a medicine breakthrough will allow him one day to recover his eyesight. However, he learns that a team of veteran surgeons is able to give him back hope. Without hesitating he asks to be operated. Thanks to this operation Tarloff effectively regains his eyesight, finally. Little by little, he is taken by strange visions and begins to distinguish a woman's presence. His physicians assure him that it is only a hallucination.
