This show was Don Adams' follow up to his classic Get Smart and it had basically the same type of humor as the previous show. Adams and Rupert Crosse played two bumbling police detectives who always seemed to solve their cases in spite of themselves. John Doucette played their harried captain and Dick Van Patten played a desk sergeant. Despite delivering some solid laughs, the show got killed in the ratings by All in the Family which used gritty, topical humor instead of the farcical humor of The Partners. Television humor was changing and The Partners and Don Adams himself got swamped by the change. NBC pulled the plug on the show after 13 episodes although seven more aired in the summer of 1972.
