After an unnamed British secret agent retires from his position, he returns to his home in London to pack for a holiday. However, he is soon gassed and loses consciousness. When he awakes hours later, he finds himself in a strange community by the sea known only as the Village. In this place, no names are used and all phones, maps, taxis and other services are "only local." Number Six, as he soon becomes known as, is shown around the Village by its chairman Number Two, who explains that the information in his head is priceless and that he and his superiors want to know why he resigned.

Peter Swanwick (The Supervisor) are the only other actors to appear in both this episode and the finale
"Fall Out"It is believed by some people that Number Six (Patrick McGoohan) is in fact the same character, John Drake, that the actor played on both series of
Danger Man from 1960 to 1968, however McGoohan has always denied this. On the other hand, George Markstein claimed he was Drake until his death in 1987.
Number Six (Patrick McGoohan) was born on March 19, 1928 at 4:31am. This is McGoohan's actual date and time of birth.
George Baker is the only Number Two to wear the same type of black piped jacket that Number Six (Patrick McGoohan) regularly wears.
The guardian sphere, Rover, was actually an 8 foot weather balloon. It was the most expensive special effect made for the series.

Analysis
Arrival... and Escape
After setting the preliminaries for most of the episode, the focus is on Escape as Number Six makes his first attempt to escape the Village. Unaware of what he's up against, his first attempt is easily thwarted and both sides realize what they're up against.
