Darling - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The medics pull up outside Six's flat.

Michael finally calls Lucy and hears her phone ring outside in the hallway. He goes out and finds her lying on the ground. When she revives, she says that she was feeling sick and collapsed. Michael finally admits that he should with her to Summakor, but she says they should go back into his apartment for a few minutes so she can recover.

Six wakes up in flat and discovers that the TV is broadcasting an advertisement for the Modern Love Bureau. The Modern Love Bureau woman promises that they always finds the perfect soulmate. Six turns off the TV but discovers an invitation under his door. He shows it to 313 and she explains that people meet in the Village by using the services. She wonders if he feels he has nothing to learn about himself and he reluctantly decides to go. As they talk, 313 contemplatively considers a scalpel.

Two and 11-12 observe another bottomless hole forming in the ground. Two breezily assures his son that it's an ambiance anomaly and they have nothing to worry about.

Six goes to the bureau and the woman in charge talks about their Blink-Match technology. She has him record a brief video statement while he accuses her of trying to distract him. As he goes, the MLB woman plays a video of Six's perfect match: a woman who appears to be Lucy. She talks about wanting a man who is a bit of a rebel and has some secrets. Intrigued, Six agrees to meet with her.

Lucy tells Michael that she read his file and notes that he has never been on vacation or had personal relationships. Michael admits that the strange behavior in the CCTV footage he saw changed him. He grabs Lucy and starts to kiss her. She hesitated and admits that she's scared.

At the Clinic, Two and 313 wait together. He asks her if she wants to betray Six, and warns that she's a dreamer. If she's not careful, she'll disappear as all dreamers do. Two asks her if she's tempted to tell Six the truth, and wonders if he would like her. 313 is careful not to say anything dangerous, and Two settles back, saying Six will be there soon enough.

Six sleeps and dreams of being taken through the halls of the Clinic. He wakes up, his sore throat, and the MLB woman is waiting for him. She tells him that it's time for Matching, Stage two. He goes to the Solar Café where the woman, 4-15, is waiting for him. Six quickly realizes that she's blind and she wonder if she's what he expected. He admits that she is and they make small talk. Six finally asks her about her condition and she explains that she simply woke up one day when she was six and discovered she was blind. The doctors have never been able to determine why or how, but say it was some kind of trauma. 4-15 asks to feel Six's face, and then tells him he has nice bones. Six wonders if he's met her in some other night, a comment she finds amusing, and he insists that he wants to get to know her tonight.

Michael and Lucy lie next to each other in bed. Lucy says that she normally isn't so impetuous, but the wheels are spinning and she's letting go.

Six and 4-15 go back to his flat.

Michael rolls out of bed and Lucy questions him, wondering what they're dong.

Six kisses 4-15 and insists that he can remember them together in another place and another time. He tries to position her the same way Lucy was in his memories, and then calls her Lucy. 4-15 thinks he's crazy and insists they need to slow down. As she goes, Six tries to kiss her, but she refuses and asks where his story ends. Six admits that he can't remember.

That night, Six tries to sleep and has more dreams of being wheeled through the Clinic hallways.

11-12 goes to the cabinet holding M2's pills. He's unaware that Two is watching his every move. Later, 11-12 meets with 313 at the Clinic and asks her if Six trusts her. She tells him to ask Six, and the teenager says he already has. He then asks her to analyze the three pill types that Two is giving to M2. She reluctantly agrees and 11-12 turns to go. However, he asks if she believes that Six is crazy and 313 admits that he isn't.

Later, Two and 11-12 have dinner. Two asks if his son wants to know about M2, noting that he didn’t expect Six to push things along so quickly. 11-12 wants to be informed but Two warns that once his son has heard everything, there'll be no going back.

Six and 313 go to 147's home and examine the bottomless hole. Six wonders if it's a means of escape. They go inside for cake and 313 asks about Six's date with 4-15. He admits that the woman knows something and he plans to find out what. As they share a toast with 147 and his wife, 832 goes outside and rides on her tricycle. She rides to the edge of the hole just as 147 realizes she's outside. He runs out with the others just in time to see his daughter plummet into the hole. A Village team arrives and seals off the area, but make no attempt to save the girl. 147's wife looks angrily at her husband and points out that he didn’t close the kitchen door.

The Village authorities make an announcement that pigs will be distributed to combat the growing number of ambient anomalies. When they return to 147's home, his wife refuses to speak to him and simply watches over the now-sealed hole, waiting for her daughter to come back. Desperate, Six goes to Two and asks for help in recovering 832. Two assures him that the people of the Village are content and coming together to deal with the problem, and then wonders about Six's feelings toward 4-15. Six seems distracted but returns to the problem of 832. He and Two go to the hole and Two warns that the only way to recover the hole is for someone to go in after her. Six insists on going and Two expresses wonder that he would sacrifice himself for someone else's child. He warns that 832 is gone for good and that there is nothing in the hole, and no way back.

147 and his wife continue to suffer in silence as she refuses to talk to him.

That night, 313 is at the Clinic and gives an unconscious 4-15 an injection. Six is on a nearby table. Two arrives and discusses the nature of love, insisting that they need to increase Six's feelings for 4-15 so that they can crack him and discover what is inside. 313 transfers blood from 4-15 to Six and insists that she doesn't want Two to kill 4-15. He asks her again if he likes her, and then invites her to Palais Two.

The next time, Six is deeply in love with 4-15 and sits with her at her home. Her father, 2944, boasts of the pigs that he's bought but Six can focus on nothing but 4-15. Finally Six goes inside and finds a photo of 4-15 as a child. 2944 comes in and admits that they're hoping for a miracle that will let her regain her sight. Six asks 2944 if 4-15 has ever been away from home, but the man insists she's never been out of their sight.

That night, 313 meets 11-12 at the Go Inside Bar and warns that she doesn’t know what M2's condition is. The teenager insists that the pills are causing his mother's condition, and demands answers. 313 explains that of the three pills, one is a sedative, one is a hallucinogenic, and the third has no known content whatsoever.

Six is at 147's house and talking about the success of Blink-Match. 147's wife complains that it can't be successful since it matched her with a man that does nothing. An angry 147 grabs a knife and goes out.

Two summons 313 to Palais Two and brings her into his bedroom. She sits on the couch near his sleeping wife and Two touches her hair and then her face. He tells her that she can refuse his touch, but if she does there will be consequences she'll have to live with. Two glances over at M2 and says that she can sense them, and that it is breaking her heart. He then says that he can remove 4-15 and give 313 a chance to have Six for herself. She refuses, saying she wants Six to choose her freely. Two asks if she can reverse the treatment and 313 insists that it's possible, but Two says that he only asked so they could both know it's possible if necessary. He tells 313 to go and be with Six if that's what she wants. As she leaves, he lies down on the bed next to his wife.

A crying 147 digs at the hole with the knife and tells Six that his wife is right.

That night, 313 goes to see Six, who is starting to pass out due to secret drug treatments. He asks her to stay with him and she admits that she couldn't bear it for him to lose 4-15. As Six passes out, the medics arrive and take him away. She goes with them to the hospital and gives Six a different injection. Two arrives and talks about how love can ruin a man, and how far it has brought 313. Six wakes up and Two realizes that 313 has given him the antidote. He explains that they've used gene symmetry formula to transplant genes from 4-15 into Six, bringing the two of them emotionally closer. Six questions his feelings and how he felt before the treatment. Two notes that 313 has disobeyed him, but that her punishment for the act lies within. He twists the knife, asking Six if his feelings still hold and he wants to marry 4-15. Six admits that he does and 313 backs away, shocked.

Michael and Lucy wake up the next morning. Lucy wonders if someone is manipulating them but Michael is undeterred. He goes to buy breakfast and she tells him that she wants oranges. They have one final kiss and Michael wonders where their relationship is going. Lucy says they can discuss it when he returns.

Six and 4-15 are in bed after love and she accepts his proposal. The marriage is quickly held at the Village Church and Six awaits his bride. 313 arrives and warns him that the artificially induced love he feels won't last. Unconcerned, he tells her that he still wants her as a friend and watches as 4-15 arrives with her father and Two. As Two ushers the bride forward, 313 grabs Six and kisses her, much to the shock of the gathered Villagers. 4-15 realizes what has happened and runs off into the nearby hills. Six goes after her, and Two notes to 313 that now she will never know if her feelings are real, or if someone induced them in her.

Six follows 4-15 into the hills and watches as a Rover approaches her. It glows with energy and gently touches her. Six runs to her side and remembers that the woman in his memories is Lucy. He calls her by that name and she looks up, able to see him. He repeats the name Lucy until she finally accepts it and explains that she was brought to the Village by Two so that Six could be broken using love. She was blinded so that she wouldn't give things away, but now the game is up. Six yells that he's cured of her and Lucy says she's glad, and then walks away.

Michael buys a bag of oranges and walks back to his apartment. As he passes an old woman, he gives her an orange.

Six returns to the Village and checks on 147. The man is standing besides another hole, and says he's going to jump in and find 832. Six warns him that it's suicide and he knows it, but will stand by and let him as long 147 acknowledges the reason why he's jumping into the hole: to end his life, not to find his daughter. Six insists that 147 loves his wife and offers his hand. 147 pauses and then takes it, relieved. However, Lucy arrives and before Six can stop her, jumps into the hole, killing herself.

Michael walks up the street toward his apartment... and the entire floor explodes.

Somewhere in New York, M2 is lying on a couch. She opens her eyes in shock as the building explodes.
