The Shield

Show Tidbits
The Farmington police district's Strike Team is based on a real life anti-gang unit known as CRASH (Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums) that was employed in the Rampart Division of the L.A.P.D. Like the Strike Team, CRASH was discovered to engaged in such unethical activities as planting of evidence, the dealing of narcotics, and covering up said offences, among many others, including a connection to the murder of rap star Notorious B.I.G. The parallels were so strong that the series was nearly entitled Rampart, after the police division.
