Chalkboard: This punishment is not boring and pointless

Couch: Fred Flintstone and his family are sitting at the couch and he invites the Simpsons over to join them.

The plot of this episode was originally going to be used as the first feature film for The Simpsons, but the idea was canned because the writers where having trouble come up with the regular 18 or so minutes of the show, let alone coming up with 80 minutes.

Lisa: [...] I feel so dirty! The dirt's not coming off! Okay... calm down... this must just be a little typo. (laugths) Miss Hoover? There appears to be a mistake on my report card! You gave me a B+ in conduct!?

Kent Brockman: Ladies and Gentlemen, I have been to Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, and I can say without hyperbole that this is a million times worse than all of them put together. A group of school-aged Spartacuses have taken the camp by force. Three counsellors are missing, and presumed scared.

Bart: Krusty! This camp was a nightmare! They fed us gruel, they forced us to make wallets for export, and one of the campers was eaten by a bear!
Krusty: Oh My God!
Bart: Well, actually, the bear just ate his hat.
Krusty: Was it a nice hat?
Bart: Oh yeah.
Krusty: Oh My God!

Even though Martin is sent to fat camp, he is still seen singing, "Hail To Thee Kamp Krusty."

The first time that Mr. Black speaks, his mouth does not move yet sound still comes out.

This is a reference to the “ideal” vital statistics for a female that's been around at least since the 60's, specifically 36 inch bust, 24 inch waist, 36 inch hips.
