The Simpsons take trip to a Renaissance Fair, and Lisa strays away from the crowd after chasing a rabbit, only to find another tent. Inside is a fortune-teller, who tells Lisa the story of her first love. In the year 2010, she is in Harvard University. While trying to take a drink from the water fountain, she bumps her head against another man known as Hugh Parkfield. In subsequent events, Hugh takes the last soy pop in the vending machine, uses the elevator whereas Lisa takes the stairs, and takes the last copy of a book Lisa needs. Lisa confronts him with the book matter, and they have a little challenge on who can read faster. After realizing they were both highly intellectual and have many things in common, they fall in love.
Lisa then takes a trip to England to meet Hugh's parents, and gets along quite well with them. Eventually, Hugh proposes to Lisa, to which she says yes. Lisa tells that to Marge, who then tells Homer. Lisa then takes Hugh to America to meet her parents, but is a little embarrassed about Homer. After a series of catastrophes resulting from their encounter, Hugh decides he can't stand to be around Homer, especially when he personally rejects Homer's cuff links. Lisa takes offense to that, and that is where Hugh tells her that they won't be seeing him again after getting married and moving to England. Lisa feels even more offended when he directly attacks her family, and she breaks off the wedding. She realizes that her family is worth more than one man's opinions. The story ends here, with Lisa walking away with her dad, and enjoying the time she has with him.
