In this episode, Patty and Selma are seen smoking while on the job at the DMV, but in the season six episode, "Homer vs. Patty and Selma" (2F14), the Gruesome Twosome had a female boss who almost fired them for smoking in a government building (then declared that Homer was worse than Hitler when he claimed that he was smoking both the cigarettes).
