Episode Quotes
(Grandpa & Bart are driving to Branson)
Radio Announcer: And now... WOMB... warm and safe radio... takes you back to the golden age of radio theater.
Show Announcer: It's "The Itchy & Scratchy Hour"... presented by Henson's Moustache Wax - the moustache wax Hitler DOESN'T use.

Homer: I just don't know what to do!
Marge: He used to be such an angel. Maybe you should give him another chance.
Homer: No! He's gotta learn, Marge. The way my dad made me learn.
Marge: He is your dad.
Homer: …Cosmic!

Lisa: Mom, there's no gambling in Branson. It was designed as a family destination.
Marge: Oh, no, there's gambling. We just have to find it!
Lisa: Look mom, it's your car! Grampa and Bart must be in that theatre.
Marge: Bet you they're not! 3 to 1, how much you got?
Lisa: Mom, you're hurting me!

(Zelda moves into Grandpa's retirement home)
Zelda: Hi, I'm Zelda. I put the "ass" in assisted living.
Abe: (sees that she's attractive and sexy) Holy m... Hee hee... Abe Simpson's the name. And now that you're here I'm changing my instructions to "DO resuscitate!"

(Abe & Zelda and Homer & Marge double date to the drive-in; Abe & Zelda are smoochin' in the front seat)
Homer: Yeow! Hey, watch the movie.
Abe: Movies were better in our day. For a nickel you got TWO movies, a cartoon, a bag of popcorn and a whuppin'. Kept your mind on your business.

Cultural References
Just like the season 10 episode, The Old Man and the "C" Student, (& possibly the season 8 episode The Old Man and Lisa) this episode's title is an adaptation of “The Old Man & the Sea”, a 1952 novel written by American author Ernest Hemingway
