Episode Notes
Chalkboard: None

This episode aired on American TV with a viewer advisory warning bumper that stated that the episode would contain references to homosexual marriage.

Couch: The living room is a hockey rink and The Simpsons are bruised and beaten hockey players (save Maggie, who isn't hurt and is in the Stanley Cup that is in Homer's hands) who skate around the couch while "Charge!" plays on an organ.

Episode Goofs
In this episode, Patty comes out of the closet as a lesbian, and Marge is shocked to discover this. However in the "Treehouse of Horror III" story "Clown Without Pity", Patty declares that she lost the last lingering thread to her heterosexuality after seeing Homer run naked through the kitchen and in the season 13 episode "Jaws Wired Shut", Patty and Smithers (not seen, but heavily implied to be them) were in the "Stayin' in the Closet" float (a float commemorating homosexuals who haven't come to terms with their true sexual orientation) at the Gay Pride parade (and Marge was there, naively thinking that the two people in the "Stayin' in the Closet" float should be a couple).

Cultural References
This episode's titles is an adaptation of “There's Something About Mary”, a 1998 American comedy film, directed by the Farrelly brothers, Bobby and Peter. It stars Cameron Diaz, Matt Dillon and Ben Stiller.

Episode References
Julio from "Three Gays of the Condo" is one of the gay people who gets married.
