Does anyone know? I know its in the US, but what state?

They never say. Springfield is in any state. In the US, there are at least a dozen cities named Springfield.

There's one in Ohio and Illinois as far as I know.

i think it's meant to be in Illinois.

The writers like to see us try to figure it out so they just keep messing with us.

I've seen a lot of clues point to Kentucky though....

In that episode where they do some show about the true story of the simpsons as if they were actors and not cartoon charecters they say where they live at the end but I don't remember. I know it wasn't Illinois.

Springfield Illinois is larger than the one on the Simpsons. Also there aren’t any oceans here.

I think the state changes to what ever is convenient for the episode’s plot.

It's a joke, I doubt it's anywhere. If you hear the begginging of The Road To D'ohwhere, "The roughest toughest brat camp in North Organ." They can't live to to far away. We may never know, like how many licks it takes get to the center of a totsie pop.

But the only reason he drives him there is cos Bart isnt allowed on the airline... so why would they wanna fly in the first place if they were already so close??

It's gotta be just whereever they want it at the time!! Whatever suits the episode I suppose... I dont think we'll ever really knwo ^o)
